@michaelbomb_ Deltarune is also intended for players of Undertale, so their natural instinct is to spare. I do agree that there's not enough differences in a violent route, and that can be rough for replays if you do mess up after Chapter 1 as a new player.

@Dharak_Colossus @KatamariSquib @insanenredacted The option that allows 4 people to be drawn is in Chapter 3, where you have a choice between talking to Susie or Ralsei. If you choose Ralsei, Ralsei will ask for Kris to buy Susie ice cream and say it was from him. Kris does this, and Susie decides to include Ralsei in the card

@TautnP I agree, I've been at many a session where the rule of cool beat out logic. End of the day, it's collaborative storytelling. But as a DM, if you aren't willing to let some amount of success come out of a check, there's no point in making your player roll. That's all I was saying.

@ShoShinSmash More to the point, you have to balance it narratively. It has to make sense, even if it’s nonsensical in the way it goes about it. People deny fate it’s just due all the time, or rush into its arms trying to avoid it.
It’s just how you play the game. It’s meant to be a story.

If the highest possible roll does not clear the stat check then you failed as a DM in balancing the game.

@TautnP You don't have to roll for your characters to breath and you don't have to roll to push the immovable boulder. A DM should try to balance their session so that these situations don't come up as often, but if a player says "I try to blow up the sun," the DM just says no, you can't
