@Coach Was gifted a lovely Rexy pop socket a while back, saved it for a new phone... Broke in less than 5 months. Really enjoying the customer service experience of being told that as I'm out of warranty, it's actually my problem that their manufacturing is shoddy and cheap

@cbcreative @richardroper The dog noticed the snowman first. Barking madly, until Ned grabbed his collar. They stared. Coal-black eyes, cute-as-a-button nose, stripy tie. 'Well... That's definitely a snowman.' Liv gestured to the carpet of daffodils around it's snowy feet. 'But it's July.' #WriteCBC

#WriteCBC task from @richardroper: Two characters are on a walk when they come across something, or someone, completely out of place. Write a mini-scene where we see how these characters react to this unexpected event.

@cbcreative @richardroper Walking through deep woodland they spotted a fir covered in clothes. It looked like a Christmas tree. Tinsel scarf, bauble sock. 'It's a joke, right?' they laughed together. That stopped when they found the other tree with bloody gifts underneath: wrapped fingers, knees and toes

@cbcreative @iamciarafinan 'God of course you're early', accompanied by an eye roll. He glared. 'On time, you mean?' She pointedly looked at the empty room. He glared harder. 'Well you're here too.' 'Only for the pastries.' He watched her walk away and smugly ate the last danish; her favourite. #WriteCBC

#WriteCBC task from @iamciarafinan: Write a short conversation between two characters who seemingly hate each other (but will end up together by the end of the story). Show the subtext of their growing attraction & hint at the progress from enemies/rivals to . . . something more!

@cbcreative @silvanhistorian He knew straw wasn't ideal, but needs must. Then: black mould. Mr Wolf shrugged and blamed drying clothes. It seems sticks don't pass cladding rules. Mr Wolf shrugged and he never saw his deposit again. He felt smug in his brick block. Mr Wolf shrugged and issued a S21. #writecbc

#WriteCBC task from @silvanhistorian: Choose a fairy tale/folk tale and a contemporary issue (e.g. Red Riding Hood & Deforestation or Rumpelstiltskin & the Gender Pay Gap). Now write a mini-scene which transplants this 'modern' issue into a fantasy or historical setting.

@cbcreative @samuelburr Flora watched as the judge, Clive, tried the cake and grimaced. Not a surprise; she'd made better. Anonymous though, thank god. She wasn't likely to claim it now. Meg took a bite just as Clive went puce. Honestly, the branding of that rat poison box: just like the flour.#WriteCBC

#WriteCBC task from @samuelburr: Clues come in all shapes and sizes. Tease your readers by planting a clue to a secret your character is keeping. Write a Tweet-length mini scene which shows that perhaps there’s more to this character than meets the eye.

@cbcreative @jess_emolloy The sofa was soft beneath his hands; he jerked back as though in pain, as he did when skin caught a stray nail on the kitchen walls. The room was so bright, not just the sun, though he squinted at that as though it were new, but clean. None of the dank corners of home.#writecbc

#WriteCBC task from @jess_emolloy: Take a character you’re currently working on. Transport them to a place that is completely unfamiliar to them. How would they react? Write a mini-scene which shows how the setting impacts your character's actions and feelings.

@cbcreative @EmilyHthinks Her coffee is cold; he'd again not made her one at home. Her name on the cup, wrong of course, skewering the illusion of going local. A look when she'd forgot her reusable. All muddled today. She has a sip, winces at the decaf and supposes she'll have to get used to it.#writeCBC

#WriteCBC task from @EmilyHthinks: Use a single object as a starting point to reveal as much information about your character as possible. Do they pick it up? Interact with it? See it from afar? What meaning do they find? What can you show us to give us a powerful sense of them.

@cbcreative @jennieg_author It was bizarre, seeing the three teens lounged over the bench. Like patchwork figures echoing down the years, with sketched-in mobiles and cooler shoes. They all gave a loud whoop as a plastic bag caught an eddy and spiralled up. She got it: it had always been dull here.#WriteCBC

#WriteCBC task from @jennieg_author: Your main character is walking down the street in the place where you (the writer) were born/grew up. Write a scene where you show us that place, the kind of people who live there, the feel of the setting... without explicitly telling us.

@cbcreative @CorrineLeith 'A puppy? You want me to steal a puppy?' The elf sighed: 'Keep reading.' She did. 'Oh... she wants me.' Maya looked dubiously at the chimney as the elf took her hand. 'I know a way as long as you're not allergic to reindeer; we'll give Lyra a spin as well.' #5ActFestiveStory
