So if I decide to sell some stocks in an ISA and stay out of the market i have to pay tax on any interest ? No matter how small the sum ? Even of it was only accrued over a couple of weeks ? How much will it cost to collect this ? Why is it necessary to interfere ?

@mcdermottkc_ £150k out of the market for just 2 months means something like a £275 tax charge that didn't exist before. Its for your own good though.

@SeanDentBsc If you held £20,000 in cash with AJBell for example, they pay 1.75% interest so over a year you would earn around £350 total interest. The government would then take £77 (22% tax). I don’t know why anyone would hold £20k in cash and if they did for a year it’s £77… big deal
