@rileybrown Its the updates. They add bloat, remove things, re-add some back. It has caused issues as we try to build on top of but then create dependencies that break with each update. Too many cooks in the kitchen - even for open source.

OpenClaw starts out very fun, then the headaches start happening after a few weeks. I’ve talked to many AI agent power users who are also struggling with OpenClaw. Gateway issues, cronjobs not firing, skills not being used consistently, memory fall off, integrations need re-authentication, oscillating between overeager and undereager, not placing files in the right place. Etc
Matt Wolfe@mreflow

I don't know if this is a skill issue or something... But I've been playing with OpenClaw a ton for the past 4ish months. I feel like lately I'm spending more time troubleshooting issues with it and telling it what it's doing wrong than I am actually getting valuable use from it.

@jlehman_ All plugins seem to be not installed with new, modular updates from OC. Lossless had issues. Having to reinstall all the plugins via npm

Huge fan of OpenClaw and this version is the best version (yet). Its so much faster, it feels almost deterministic in output. If you put OpenClaw back down, recommend picking it up again.

This was a hairy release, but finnaly fixes all the issues everyones been facing the last few days, we ripped out -20k lines of code, and a large number of plugins are downloaded when needed on install. Feel the speed!

@Voxyz_ai Do you find latency in getting Discord channels spun up? The lag after these updates seems to have increased.

the session startup latency on 4.26 and a few versions before had me scratching my head trying to find the cause. tested for a while and ended up rolling back to 4.14, which turned out to be the fastest. spent half a day on 4.27 and the startup latency is much better. small details too, /new now responds way faster. honestly this version is worth upgrading to

@GaryMarcus "No profits" requires ignoring Azure, GCP, and the entire model lab revenue stack. "No moat" requires ignoring TPUs, Trainium, and a billion Workspace seats. Capex worries are legitimate. The rest is vibes.

Sheer insanity. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Meta collectively are spending more money than the Manhattan Project *every single month*. More than 12x the Manhattan Project every year. And what they have got to show for it? None are making major profits on AI; none has a technical moat; a massive price war is inevitable. And few of their customers are seeing major returns on investment. Greatest capital misallocation in history.

Over the past month, some of you reported Claude Code's quality had slipped. We investigated, and published a post-mortem on the three issues we found. All are fixed in v2.1.116+ and we’ve reset usage limits for all subscribers.

@trq212 Will we ever be able to manage Code/CoWork from our phones natively? Not needing 3rd party remote apps? Or use Discord, iMessage, etc?

The next AI bottleneck may not be just compute. It may be context: memory, workflow history, semantic structure, and the business logic agents need to operate correctly. Full video linked in bio / comments.

AI agents are getting smarter. But inside real companies, they still fail for a simple reason: missing context. Full video linked in bio / comments.
