🚀 Excited to share that I’ve been selected for the ShadowFox Virtual Internship Program! This 1-month experience (Aug 1 - Aug 31) will give me the opportunity to work on real-world cybersecurity projects, strengthen my hands-on skills, and continue building toward a career in security. Looking forward to: - Gaining practical experience - Solving real-world challenges - Connecting with other learners in the field No better way to keep the momentum going. #Cybersecurity #Internship #LearningByDoing #ShadowFox #InfosecJourney

Back to learning. My Cybersecurity Journey: from Interest to Impact. I continued from where I stopped, and I learned about subnetting. Subnetting is the process of taking one large network and dividing it into several smaller, organized groups called subnets. Gn mutuals🥰

Day 2/100 Today I realized 644 and 755 aren't just random Linux numbers, they're Linux file permissions. Ran my first SUID audit, which showed me how permission mistakes can lead to privilege escalation. Also started OverTheWire Bandit (Level 0- 1). #100DaysOfCybersecurity #Linux

Today I couldn't share my writing cause I got sick, but tomorrow or tonight I will try my best to conclude the writing, just left with 4 steps. I'm enjoying learning more about Broken Access Control. So far I learned from Tryhackme, HackTheBox, WebVersePro, I have read On Web Security Academy, had to stop cause I started not feeling well. This are all recommendations from the API Security OWASP Top 10 and beyond. I covered everything but redoing everything.

Today's lesson was one of my favorites. 🚀 I learned how IPv6 works, its addressing format, compression rules, and why it's needed. I also covered DHCP and the difference between static and dynamic IP addressing. Best part? I scored 100% on the IPv6 assessment 🤭

On a break from my UBI internship, I decided to start a 100 Days of Ethical Hacking challenge. Day 1: Set up Ubuntu WSL2, connected to TryHackMe, completed my first Nmap scan, and tested the limits of my 4GB RAM laptop. On to Day 2. #100DaysOfCyber #Learninginpublic #Cybersec

Day 47 Today I built reusable Bash functions to make my scripts cleaner & easier to maintain. I repeated the same block of code, then refactored it into a function I could reuse. A simple coffee-making script showed how functions reduce duplication and keep scripts organized.

Today, two more people reached out to tell me they got jobs. One guy and one lady. Moments like this remind me why I started. Thank you to everyone who listens, joins my weekly X Spaces, reads my newsletter, and actually applies what I teach. I know I can't reply to every DM anymore. There are simply too many, and it has become difficult to keep up. But please know that I see your messages, and I appreciate every single one of you. (The best part is the newsletter comes with a community and 4 classes in a month. So you're grounded with quality for cheap price.) For the past year, I've shared as much as I could for free because I know what it's like to struggle. I've been there. I know what it feels like to be looking for an opportunity and not know where the next breakthrough will come from. That's one of the reasons I reduced my newsletter from $15 per month to just $12 per year, which works out to about $1 a month. I wanted it to be affordable so more people could benefit from it. My goal is simple: to build one of the most valuable career and tech newsletters in Africa. It won't happen overnight, but I'm committed to making it happen. As we grow toward 1,000 subscribers, my goal is to keep making it even more accessible so the average person can afford high-quality information that can genuinely change their career. If you need personalized guidance, you can book a consultation through the link in my bio. If you're looking for the highest return on a small investment in your career, join the newsletter. Finally, congratulations again to everyone getting job offers. Your success is the real reward. Thank you for trusting me, for showing up consistently, and for putting in the work. Keep learning, keep applying, and your opportunity will come. I'm not rich, I live in the trenches but that wouldn't stop the impact and knowledge I can dish out. Broke Ones will rise again.

So guys after a lot of consideration I have decided to start the newsletter again but it's cheaper this time $1.47 per month. It's a biweekly newsletter We had great testimonies with the last one so I had to pause so I can allow more people who ain't that rich, get in. We would be covering a lot of things. I wish you the best and share with your friends. Link to join. nestuge.com/hhoeccnwq

The Transition🎓➡️👨‍🏫 They say the best way to learn is to teach, but I didn't truly understand that until now. Not long ago, I was anxious about stepping up as a tutor at @HSC_Consult , doubting if I was ready. After talking to the mentors I look up to, I decided to rise to the challenge. I am so glad I did, teaching has firmly reinforced my own knowledge in ways I can't even explain. Here is how we wrapped up our Web Application Security module with a live class pentest on vulnbank.org!👇

Today learnt about COPPER CABLING: 99% of networks use cables. Fiber is fancy. Copper is everywhere. Copper transmits data as electrical signals. Maximum distance: 100 meters per run (then signal dies). 4 types: 🔀 TWISTED PAIR (UTP): Two wires, opposite signals. The twist cancels interference. Cheap. Flexible. Your office WiFi router uses this. 🛡️ SHIELDED TWISTED PAIR (STP): Twisted pair + foil shield. For harsh environments (factories, hospitals). More expensive. 📺 COAXIAL: Central conductor + braided shield. Used for cable modems and TV. Thicker than twisted pair. ⚡ TWINAXIAL: Two inner conductors. 10Gb Ethernet. Low cost. Low latency. Copper = reliable, cheap, proven. Next post will explain more on it in details. @ireteeh @CyberRacheal #Networking #Cabling
