@MGoddard2001 @TodaysRailways @RbxTrains @LumoTravel 222s are capable of 125 mph and there should be sections on WCML where under the MU differential speed they would be able to.
English

The first 222 for @LumoTravel (222001) is now in Lumo blue as part of its refurbishment by Alstom at Widnes. Five former EMR 222s, as 6-cars, will be used on Lumo’s new Euston-Stirling service, with the first trains running in May and the full service launching on 27 July. 📷Lumo

@WilliamBarter1 @AndyRoden1 @NoelDolphin Revenue being the key item on the journey time elasticity… if journey times go up revenue goes down. It only starts to make a noted effect when any increase in journey times starts to require more crews and / or more rolling stock?
English

@AndyRoden1 @NoelDolphin It seems not irrational to bed things in at moderate speeds to start with, after all, there’s plenty of trains and lots of platforms to be cautious i.e. inefficient with an initial limited service. But if you fall off the planned journey times a lot of things go wrong very quickly
English

I think the Times are a year late to this story about reducing speed to save money. What really costs money, is constant meddling since the start of HS2.

@railnigel Power off, tazer individual, remove from track, power on, trains run again. NOTHING less..
English

@robert55012 @JaydaBF Shomrim vehicles like that pictured are remarkably close to an actual police car and should this be permitted.
English

@JaydaBF To be correct, Shomrim is not a police force. They are volunteer Jewish civilian patrol organizations operating in Haredi communities, primarily in the UK and USA.

@Nillo82948721 @electikk2 And whytf don’t they rise up and do something about him to remove him from office. Just waiting for the midterms and then impeachment?

@MarstonGareth Nearly often run empty? Really…. Now that is a huge porkie for a kick off
English

Wait till Dickie finds out about the fact cars mainly drive about with just 20% occupancy gross inefficiency!
Richard Wellings@RichardWellings
This is a good idea. Passenger trains often run nearly empty, with massive spare capacity, so using part of them for freight makes a lot of sense, especially on long-distance services. Carriages could be redesigned to make dual-use more efficient.

@mark395625 @AndyBTravels Believe it or not I sussed out which platforms my ICE options were going off at Hbf and managed to find a working escalator to get me to another LL platform and caught a train to Südkreuz and then returned to the Hbf to arrive on a platform opposite!
English

@ShropsP @AndyBTravels Was a bit of a pain arriving on platform 5 downstairs and needing platform 14 three levels up, with a massive heavy backpack.
English

@realSi_jeff @reformparty_uk Don’t be so effing stupid.. quite the blooming’ opposite really
English

If @reformparty_uk lose the next election this country is finished.
It really is as simple as that.
English

@mark395625 @AndyBTravels I found 3 working ones out of goodness knows how many.. changing platforms even at the low level became little short of a nightmare
English

@AndyBTravels They were all out of service when I came through the hbf at the end of.m february

@ShropsP @Guard_Amos @callumLtfc @LumoTravel @AvantiWestCoast There are drivers at Preston, Stirling and Euston, but the main depot will be Preston.

I think when @LumoTravel start running. @AvantiWestCoast will have some stiff competition between Carlisle and London. Looking at that stopping pattern

@QuentinTheDot @mark395625 @doc7austin I don’t know about their adherence to maintenance or safety standards but they really didn’t leave me with a good feeling on the three occasions I have travelled with them. RegioJet were the total opposite and I was happy to make more journeys. 1/2
English

@mark395625 @ShropsP @doc7austin Flix is just run very cheaply, they are always late, skip maintenance (toilets don't always work), non-existent customer information infrastructure, use cheap, old rolling stock, and tickets are dynamically priced based on demand. They also exclusively run popular routes.
