Gluten-free diet (#GFD) remains the gold standard for the management of Celiac Disease (#CeD). But how many patients with CeD adhere to GFD? Our systematic review and meta-analysis estimating the pooled global prevalence of GFD adherence in CeD patients DOI: 10.14309/ajg.0000000000003985 Pooled global prevalence of GFD adherence in CeD patients = 64% (One-third patients do not adhere!!!) European and North American countries report the highest adherence rate Pooled prevalence of GFD adherence in India = 46% @govindmakharia @ashishchauhan__ @Sam_ogre

Delighted to share that 5 of our abstracts made it to #DDW2026, including one oral presentation and one video presentation which has been short-listed for ASGE World Cup. Its been one fruitful year in the Department of Digestive and Hepato-biliary Sciences, Medanta-the Medicity, Gurugram, nurturing small ideas to reality. The department has a huge potential for clinical research. I thank all the collaborators and of course, my team for putting in all the hard work. A big shoutout to @Dr_RadhikaS_22 for constant support. Onwards and upwards from here. @DrRajeshPuri1 @DrRawalGastro @Drhiteshpancha1 @medantaindia

How did the Transplant ID fellowship help me? Many people have asked me whether there was truly a need to invest one more year and pursue one more degree, that too a first-time-only course in India. After working at Artemis Hospitals, Gurgaon, for the past year, I can confidently say that my decision-making has evolved in ways I could never have imagined. Fortunately, Artemis is a centre with a significant number of transplants — both HSCT and SOT — giving me the perfect platform to apply everything I learnt at CMC. During our fellowship, we formulated the Febrile Neutropenia guidelines at CMC at one of the biggest Hematology Departments of Asia. That experience taught me structured thinking, clarity, and the discipline to escalate or not escalate antibiotics appropriately. Transplant patients are NOT like routine patients — they require precision, timing, and a deep understanding of the net state of immunosuppression, an art that only comes with time, training, and seeing a high volume of complex cases. As part of my fellowship, I was fortunate to work at Rela Hospitals, MGM, Gleneagles, and Henry Ford Detroit — gaining exposure to a wide spectrum of transplant practices and protocols. I was privileged to learn from some of the most inspiring mentors: Dr. Subramanian, Dr. Del Busto, Dr. George Alangaden, Dr Niveditha, Dr Raj, Dr. Vidya and Dr. Madhumita. Today, I’ve reached a stage where haematologists and transplant surgeons trust and align with my decisions. Timely decisions in transplant ID directly reduce mortality and improve patient outcomes. Together, we have been able to develop protocols with clearer pathways and far better results. And trust me — that confidence only comes after consistent work, showing up every day, and proving yourself over time. None of this would have been possible without the extensive, rigorous training that went into that one year. I met and learnt from some of the most amazing people, and built relationships that I value for life. Thankful to Dr Priscilla, Dr George, Dr Abi, Dr Rini, Dr Rajiv, Dr Selwyn Dr Prasanna, Dr Anupa. Certainly one of the best years of my life. #Nostalgia #Blessed

Back on social media after a long break — starting with gratitude. Two convocations this year: AIIMS, New Delhi and CMC Vellore. Both institutions have shaped me in ways that go far beyond the certificate. Grateful to my mentors. Privileged to have learnt from the stalwarts in the field. It feels surreal, meaningful, and deeply humbling to have trained at the country's best institutes. A year of milestones. A lifetime of learning. #Blessed

#Seriesoflateposts Although I completed my Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at CMC Vellore in September 2024, receiving it formally at the November 2025 convocation brought this journey beautifully full circle. I am deeply grateful to my mentors, especially @PriscillaRupali , without whom this would not have been possible. CMC is truly a place that transforms you — not just academically, but as a person. It guides you in the right direction. The passion with which patient care is delivered cannot be described in words. Anyone looking to train in the medical field should experience CMC Vellore at least once. It is a place that runs on protocols and purely evidence-based medicine. If there is no evidence, they generate it. Research is research at CMC. And it’s a place that teaches you that there is no age limit to learning. No better time to post memories from CMC than this month. Those who have seen the campus during December know how it turns magical — full of warmth, lights, music, and a sense of purpose. @OffCMCVellore

A lot of sweat from different parts of world, lot of AIIMS students collaborating culminating in this wonderful work. Kudos to our lead @ShubhamMehtaGI. Bottom line : 1 in 3 is non-adherent to GFD. #AIIMS_celiac
