The restaurant industry must be reeling tonight on hearing that thanks to new laws gazetted today, all bars, shebeens & restaurants which sell alcohol must close @ 6pm on weekdays & Saturdays & at 1pm on Sundays and public holidays with immediate effect. They can re-open at 9am.

And on a wider scale, many restaurants pay their waiters nothing or virtually nothing, and then make routine, substantial, illegal deductions from their tips to subsidise their overheads. Thwart this immoral practice by paying tips in cash. 🙏
