Took the wife and kids to see Project Hail Mary. We all really enjoyed it. Its greatest achievement is that it’s an actual family movie. Not too babyish for adults and not too grown up for the kids. Reminds me of the PG movies they used to make all the time in the 80s and 90s. Very much a spiritual descendent of ET. Maybe Hollywood will take the hint and start making real family films again.
It also kind of reminded me of Ad Astra, which is a massively underrated masterpiece. A slower film, more adult oriented and contemplative. That and Arrival are the best space/alien movies of the past 15 years. Project Hail Mary is probably in the top 5. I’d rank it higher than Interstellar.

This administration has gone better than even my best realistic expectations. Let’s look at the results:
1) Economic promises kept—taxes reduced (none on tips/SS/OT), inflation lower than wage growth, broad tariffs implemented, you name it
2) Border SECURED, NEGATIVE net migration, RECORD INTERIOR deportations, Gutting of the H1B program, REVERSED demographic change
3) Wars ENDED, Israel-Gaza ceasefire, Maduro GONE, Iran nuclear sites GONE (no war!), Enemies kept at bay, possible addition of Greenland on the horizon
4) Hundreds of thousands of government job cuts (replaced by ICE!), Epstein files RELEASED, USAID DISMANTLED, HHS vaccine safety reform
More can and should be done btw—but everyone with a brain signs that “deal” in 2024 for Trump’s first year. That hasn’t stopped the internet from being collectively retarded. Who is paying them!

I filed an amendment that would defund the over $5 billion in taxpayer money that is devoted to welfare for refugees that is in the minibus spending bill. If my amendment doesn’t pass, your tax dollars may be spent to provide refugees with: - Cash handouts for purposes such as food, shelter, and transportation - Healthcare benefits similar to Medicaid - Day care for children - English-learning education - Employment training and job placement This amendment will be germane to the spending bill, meaning it can be adopted by a simple majority of the Senate. Shapiro has never abandoned this antiquated Paul Ryan mindset. He finally backed Trump because it was good for business, which is fine and a net positive given his large following, but it doesn't make him 'based', especially because his main hangup in 2016 was that Trump would make the GOP more like a right-wing populist party in Europe (yeah, that's kind of the point.)
The difference between a former Never-Trumper like Ben Shapiro and JD Vance is that Vance actually represents MAGA ideals, while Shapiro simply just repackages 1980s talking points that disregard our national identity and tells you that wanting to retire at 65 is a "stupid" idea, all while posting "own the libs" slop for engagement.
