Europe has a problem that nobody wants to say out loud: the continent keeps producing exceptional researchers who then spend their careers building infrastructure they'll never own: The labs, the compute, the platforms... they end up somewhere else. And that is a bad problem. A structural one. NextFrontierAI by @SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen starts from the assumption that brute-force scaling has a ceiling, and that we're getting close to it. More GPUs and more data aren't going to be enough. What comes next requires a different kind of institution, one that can move fast and stay independent, without answering to a corporate parent or a ministerial committee. The plan is three owner-led labs spread across Europe, each one built around a team that already has a strong research thesis and wants the room to actually test it against the market. Not a prize, not a grant with twelve reporting requirements. €125M in equity-free capital, enough infrastructure to scale seriously, and a real path to raising €1B per lab once the foundations are proven. We're looking for ten frontier AI teams. Does the team has a genuine point of view on what comes after current-generation models, and whether they're capable of building toward it without hand-holding?
