@FitzAndLarry I’m having a bit of a reading slump while I try and write. I feel like I need something light and fun but nothing is grabbing me! I’m not a long fic girlie, 50-80k is perfect for me for a longer fic, but they’re weirdly hard to find. 😩

@SilverStuff50 @CelticSky28 Even if I don't love a story. I appreciate the effort. Sometimes stories just aren't for me, doesn't mean they weren't good. I think I've NOT left a kudos maybe once or twice at most.

Yeah it does completely and that’s how I do it. I think giving blanket kudos as a thanks for effort is a sweet thought, don’t get me wrong, but I also think it can sort of devalue kudos somehow too. Like, for me it’s my way of saying “I enjoyed this” rather than “thanks for bothering” if that makes sense. But people should be free to do whatever they feel ofc!

And like... there are SO many fics on ao3 and I know quite a lot of people look for fics based on kudos. So I dont wanna be essentially passively recommending fics that I wouldnt actively recommend if that makes sense?

No.
I give kudos to fics that I REALLY enjoyed or thought were really well written. My "hit" is the thing I "give" for just reading a fic.
As a fic writer I don't expect kudos from everyone tbqh. I see it as a massive thing when ppl give kudos....
