As a retired Infantryman, I had/have chronic pain. VA prescribed Tramadol, it made me feel great. It made me feel a little too great. I stopped and increased the intensity of my workouts. Pain is very manageable now without drugs. “Discipline is freedom”

Yes I fucked my lower back up pretty good from a few accute injuries in my late 20’s and 30’s. By the time I got to 37 years old in pretty much couldn’t stand up straight. Even tried yoga for a couple years. Trap bar deadlifts under the guidance of a professional trainer COMPLETELY healed my lower bank, just spending 3-4 years consistently strengthening my entire posterior chain. I’m 49 now still training and healthy as a horse, and generally speaking the strongest and fittest I’ve ever been my entire life. Only difference is my cardio fitness is old man-ish now,
