South Africa 🇿🇦: Asylum seekers. South Africa’s Constitutional Court has made a major new ruling on asylum seekers. People whose asylum applications were already finally rejected can no longer submit repeat asylum applications inside the country. The decision came in a case involving two Burundian nationals who first applied for asylum years ago, were rejected, and later tried to apply again after political violence worsened in Burundi. Last week around Crown(JHB) I witnessed something more alarming on this immigration issue. Police truck came in around knock off time for workers, ppl were queuing for taxis to take them home. When that truck stopped next to the queue, almost the entire queue of about 20-30 ppl ran away to the nearby bushes. Police chased some of them and arrested a few. This means most of those ppl are illegal immigrants working in that area 🫩😭
