`Follow and share Change News WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… 🟦 CHANGE NEWS ANALYSIS Why Are Nurses Striking in Zimbabwe? Nurses in Zimbabwe are not striking for the first time. But this time, the reasons are clearer — and more urgent — than ever. At its core, the strike is about one simple issue: Survival. 💰 1. Low Salaries vs Real Life Many nurses are earning under $300 per month, with some receiving even less in ZiG value. But the cost of living tells a different story: Fuel: $2.17 per litre Daily transport: up to $6 Food prices: rising rapidly 👉 The numbers simply do not add up. A nurse cannot survive — let alone thrive — under these conditions. 🚐 2. The Cost of Getting to Work One of the biggest triggers of this strike is transport. If a nurse spends: $5–$6 per day commuting That’s over $100 per month Yet transport allowances remain extremely low. 👉 In simple terms: Some nurses are working just to pay for transport. 🍞 3. The Cost of Living Crisis Food, rent, electricity — all rising. Salaries? Stagnant. This gap between income and reality is what has pushed nurses to the edge. This is not just a workplace issue. It is an economic crisis playing out in hospitals. 🏥 4. A Healthcare System Under Pressure When nurses go on strike, it is not just a labour issue. It becomes a national emergency. Patients are left unattended Hospitals are understaffed Critical services are disrupted 👉 A healthcare system is only as strong as its workers. ⚖️ 5. What This Says About the Nation The nurses’ strike is a signal. A warning. It reflects: Economic strain Policy gaps A disconnect between leadership and daily realities When essential workers cannot afford basic needs, it raises a bigger question: 👉 What are the national priorities? 🔥 6. The Bigger Debate While nurses demand: Better pay Better conditions There is ongoing focus in political circles on: Constitutional changes Extending time in office 👉 This contrast has not gone unnoticed. Many Zimbabweans are asking: Should the focus not be on fixing the economy first? 🧭 Conclusion The nurses are not just striking. They are sending a message: We cannot continue like this. 📢 FINAL LINE A nation that cannot support its caregivers must confront its priorities.

`Follow and share Change News WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… 🟡 CHANGE OPINION By Rugare Mangoma WRONG PRIORITIES Zimbabwe is speaking. Not in whispers. Not in fear. But loudly, clearly, and from every corner of the nation. Nurses are on strike — not because they want to abandon patients, but because their salaries can no longer buy food, transport, or dignity. A nurse who cannot afford to get to work cannot save lives. That is the reality. At the same time, ordinary Zimbabweans are fighting a daily battle just to survive. Food prices are rising. Fuel prices are rising. Transport costs are unbearable. And yet — in the middle of this crisis — Members of Parliament are rushing to change the Constitution. That is the disconnect. That is the insult. That is the wrong priority. Retired generals — once the backbone of the system — are now speaking out. Citizens across the country are speaking out. The message is the same: 👉 Fix our lives first. Zimbabweans are not asking for luxuries. They are asking for basics: Affordable food Reasonable transport Functioning hospitals A government that listens Instead, they are being handed political maneuvers that do nothing to ease their suffering. This moment matters. Because when nurses, citizens, and even former insiders all raise the same alarm — it is no longer politics. It is a national signal. We the Citizens are watching. We the Citizens are speaking. We the Citizens will decide. 📲 Call to Action: Tell your MP: Focus on our lives, not your positions. Remember to share. Caring is sharing. Thank you greatly!

`Follow and share change Radio WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… 📰 CHANGE NEWS OPINION Patients and Nurses Are Asking for the Same Thing By Simbiso Ranga, MD – Change News Patients and nurses are asking for the same thing. Pay nurses a living wage. A system under strain When nurses and doctors are paid low salaries, something fundamental breaks. Energy is drained. Morale collapses. Survival becomes the priority. A hungry nurse… who has to walk long distances to work… cannot be expected to deliver optimal care. The human reality Healthcare is not mechanical. It is human. And human beings must first take care of themselves before they can take care of others. Yet today, many healthcare workers are: Struggling to afford food Struggling to afford transport Struggling to live with dignity What this means for patients Patients need care 24 hours a day. Strike or no strike. But the question must be asked: How can a system function… when the people expected to provide care are themselves in distress? A national health crisis This is no longer just a labour issue. This is a health crisis. And yet, there is silence. Where are the hospital administrators? Where is the Ministry of Health? The unanswered question Why the silence? When nurses are speaking… when patients are affected… when the system is clearly under pressure… Silence becomes part of the problem. Conclusion Patients and nurses are not on opposite sides. They are on the same side. Both are asking for dignity. Both are asking for a system that works. 🔥 Pay nurses a living wage. Lives depend on it.

THE DUTY TO PRAY “And in the morning, rising a great while before day, He went out to a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35 Before the noise of the world, there was prayer.
Before the crowds, there was communion. When nations tremble, the faithful must pray.
When truth is tested, the faithful must pray. Let us not neglect to pray for Zimbabwe.
God is faithful. Integrity is the definition of His name. He hears. He answers. He hears every cry and answers in good time. Blessed Sabbath.~nc #GodIsInIt #JesusIsLord #JesusSaves #PrayForZimbabwe

`Follow and share change Radio WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… THE GENERALS HAVE SPOKEN: ZANU-PF SHOULD STOP ✋️ Opinion by Tafara Gutsaruzhinji | Change Radio News Something unusual is happening in Zimbabwe. Voices that once stood firmly inside the system are now speaking out. Retired Air Marshal Henry Muchena has joined millions of Zimbabweans who are saying clearly and loudly: ZANU-PF must stop manipulating the Constitution. This is no small matter. When retired generals and senior civil servants begin to raise alarm, it signals that the concern is no longer limited to politicians or activists. These are individuals who served the state, defended the country, and helped build the institutions of Zimbabwe. Their voices carry weight because they understand exactly how dangerous constitutional manipulation can be. The message is simple: Zimbabwe belongs to its citizens, not to a political party. ZANU-PF can pass whatever resolutions it wants inside its party structures. It can debate, vote, and decide its internal policies. That is its right as a political organization. But what it cannot do is impose those party resolutions on the entire nation. The Constitution of Zimbabwe is not a ZANU-PF document. It is the people’s document. Zimbabweans sacrificed blood, sweat, and treasure so that citizens could govern themselves. The principle was clear then and remains clear now: One person. One vote. One nation. Any attempt to manipulate the Constitution to extend power or deny citizens their democratic rights is not just unconstitutional—it is a direct insult to the sacrifices made by generations of Zimbabweans. What makes the current moment significant is the growing unity of voices across the country. Citizens are speaking. Civil society is speaking. The diaspora is speaking. And now even retired generals are speaking. This should be a moment of reflection for ZANU-PF. If the ruling party ignores these warnings and continues pushing forward with constitutional manipulation, it risks pushing Zimbabwe’s already fragile governance crisis to a dangerous new level. No government should govern against the will of its people. President Nelson Chamisa has called on Zimbabweans to unite across political lines at this critical moment. The issue at stake is bigger than party politics. It is about the future of democracy in Zimbabwe. This is the moment for citizens to stand firm. The Constitution must be protected. Democracy must be defended. And the voice of the people must be heard. Zimbabweans everywhere must send a clear message: Tell your Member of Parliament — STOP the constitutional manipulation. The generals have spoken. The citizens are speaking. ZANU-PF should stop. Now.

IN TIMES of oppression and dictatorship, the civic duty and patriotic act of progressive students, journalists, intellectuals, and professionals becomes greater, not smaller. 1. Debate issues, not personalities.
2. Speak truth to power.
3. Defend the interests of the citizens.
4. Preserve facts, truth, and professional integrity.
5. Refuse trinkets, bribes, and complicity.
6. Encourage citizens courage, not fear.
7. Expose injustice without hatred or prejudice.
8. Encourage not discourage or demonize the symbols of the struggle.
9. Stand firmly on the side of freedom, dignity, and the citizens. What else do you add ?

`Follow and share change Radio WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… Independent But Not Free Change Radio Editorial Zimbabwe’s governing party, ZANU-PF, often tells the world that Zimbabwe is an independent country that does not take orders from anyone. The message is repeated again and again: Zimbabwe is sovereign and answers to no one. Yet the reality on the ground tells a very different story. While preaching independence, the government gladly accepts food aid to feed its own citizens. It accepts foreign funding to keep hospitals running and to sustain healthcare programs. When it comes to survival of ordinary Zimbabweans, international partners are welcome. But when it comes to the country’s vast mineral wealth, the story changes. Zimbabwe’s mineral rights are quietly handed over to politically connected partners and foreign allies, often under opaque agreements that ordinary citizens never see. The justification is always the same: these are “friends” who supported the liberation struggle. But the benefits rarely reach the people. Instead, what Zimbabweans witness is a pattern of enrichment among a small political elite. Millions of dollars move through shadowy deals. Thirty million into one pocket. Twenty-five million into another. Meanwhile the country itself continues to crumble. Roads are broken. Bridges are unsafe. Hospitals have no medicines. Electricity shortages are constant. This is not independence. This is mismanagement. Now, instead of fixing the real problems facing the country, ZANU-PF is pushing to hastily amend the Zimbabwe Constitution. Such a move should alarm every citizen. Constitutions are meant to protect the people from the abuse of power, not to protect those already in power. If Zimbabweans blink at this critical moment, the consequences could be severe. National resources could be locked away in questionable deals for generations. Public accountability could disappear entirely. And the suffering of ordinary citizens could deepen even further. Zimbabwe belongs to its citizens. The Constitution belongs to its citizens. Any attempt to radically alter it for the benefit of a ruling party is dangerous for the future of the nation. Zimbabweans must speak clearly and firmly: No to constitutional manipulation. No to the looting of national resources. No to governance that serves the few at the expense of the many. True independence must mean freedom, accountability, and dignity for the people. Without that, independence is just a word.

`Follow and share change Radio WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb… ZANU-PF Prays for a Miracle Opinion by Tambudzai Nyirenda | Change Radio News Something unusual is happening in Zimbabwe. ZANU-PF has discovered prayer. After 46 years in power, the ruling party appears to be on its knees—not exactly in repentance, but in desperation. You see, ZANU-PF is suddenly very afraid of the citizens. This is understandable. After nearly half a century in charge, Zimbabwe has achieved some remarkable records: No electricity schedules that even ZESA cannot explain. Clean water that only appears when it rains. Hospitals where patients bring their own bandages, medicines, and sometimes even the doctor. Youth unemployment so high that “entrepreneur” now means selling airtime at the bus stop. Naturally, after such “achievements,” ZANU-PF suspects that citizens might be slightly unhappy. Very slightly. This fear explains the latest political strategy: remove the voters from the equation entirely. Some people have asked an innocent question: “Why doesn’t ZANU-PF simply rig the next election like before?” Well, apparently even rigging has become exhausting. Take August 2023, for example. Over one million voters in Harare mysteriously could not vote on time. Ballot papers were delayed so long that some polling stations opened when people were already thinking about dinner. Voting stretched for 12 hours and beyond in some areas. Even after this Olympic-level gymnastics, the opposition still managed to pull in millions of votes. This was deeply disturbing for ZANU-PF strategists. Imagine cheating in an exam and still nearly failing. So the new idea is simpler: avoid exams altogether. Why struggle with elections when you can simply change the rules? Why count votes when you can extend terms? Why face citizens when you can pretend citizens do not exist? But here is the small problem. Zimbabwe does not belong to politicians. Zimbabwe belongs to its citizens. And citizens have a stubborn habit of showing up—sometimes peacefully, sometimes loudly, but always eventually. So while ZANU-PF may be praying for a miracle, the real miracle they should hope for is citizens forgetting 46 years of broken promises. That miracle, unfortunately for them, is unlikely. Zimbabweans remember. And they vote. Or at least they will—if the vote is allowed to exist. So citizens should do something very simple. Call your Member of Parliament. Tell them clearly: Hands off the Constitution. Hands off our vote. Because a government that fears its citizens is already halfway out the door.
