Adoptive dad and teacher found guilty after he murdered and sexually abused 13 month old boy him and his boyfriend adopted. Jamie Varley aged 37 a teacher has been found guilty of murdering and sexually abusing 13 month old Preston Davey while his boyfriend John McGowan Fazakerley aged 32 was convicted of causing or allowing the death cruelty and sexual assault. The couple were adopting the boy together in Blackpool but subjected him to sexual ill treatment and abuse over nearly four months leading to his death on July 27th 2023 from suffocation and sexual assault. Varley who took naked pictures of the child and filmed him in distress was convicted of murder assault by penetration 14 counts of making indecent images and other charges while McGowan Fazakerley faces a lengthy jail term. Preston had suffered prior injuries including a broken elbow from rough handling a seizure and bruising before the fatal incident where Varley suffocated him possibly twice while alone with the boy. The boys biological mother Sarah Davey aged 42 is a notorious murderer who killed an elderly woman as a teenager in 1998 and Preston was taken from her care shortly after birth. Sentencing has been adjourned until Thursday with the judge noting the horrific nature of the crimes against the vulnerable child in the care of the gay adoptive dads. We’ve just finished a day of canvassing and leafleting with our new leaflets on mass deportations. I’ll be giving daily updates from the campaign trail here in Makerfield right up until election night. It should be an exciting few days. I’m absolutely exhausted, having gone from Great Yarmouth straight to Manchester, but the work continues.

I’ve just been checked over by an ambulance after a group of foreign lads came up behind me while I was doing a debate stand, dragged me to the ground, and kicked and punched me. I passed out halfway through and don’t remember everything that happened. From what I can recall, it started while I was sitting down, and they took some of my equipment during the assault. The police arrived about five minutes after the assault, recovering as much as they could. One of my cameras exploded when they tried to seize it, or steal it. Instead of running away with it, they destroyed it, causing the battery to explode. However, I have the SD card, and we'll be checking whether the footage is still there so they can identify what actually happened. Members from Stand Up to Racism were counter-protesting, and they were egging them on and filming it. The police did nothing to stop the counter-protesters or retrieve the footage to see what actually happened. I’ll be going to the hospital now, as I have a cut and a number of marks on my neck, bruises on my face and the top of my head, and cuts running down my back.
