Interesting request/question from the gallery tonight; giant greens.
When I think “huge green,” these are four that come to mind:
- the 9th at Oakmont
- the 5th/13th at the Old Course at St. Andrews
- the floating 14th at Coeur d’Alene
- the 5th at Old Macdonald
Full disclosure: I neither measured these myself nor looked up their specs, so I am sure there are bigger greens out there.
Anyone have any favorite giant greens?

“It burns me up that with the billions of dollars spent on course construction in the last 50 years all architects together haven't been able to build another Royal Melbourne.” - Gene Sarazen
Robert Lusetich@RobertLusetich
Lucky to have broken bread once at Augusta with Gene Sarazen. He raved about Australian golf. 2nd in 1934 #AustralianOpen, went back in 36 to become the first international champ. Jack, Player, Arnie, Watson all have won, as has Rory, who is playing but would've been cool for Scottie Scheffler to have skipped Tiger's silly season moneygrab for #RoyalMelbourne

Great to see the old 15th at Portsea back as the 19th hole! Great short uphill par 3. @mikeclaytongolf any idea how long this has been back?

@TalkBirdie_ToMe @nickohern @MarkAllenGolf @PGATOUR @PGATOURComms please give us the old American feed back in Australia. Nobody wants the international feed and the commentary that come with it.
English

Well the #pgatour may have badly misread the room on this one. Looks like the international feed is here to stay according to the boss of international media Kate Sharp. @nickohern and @MarkAllenGolf give their, less than positive, verdict here: rb.gy/qu626n

Here is the hardest worker I know.
My dad.
Went to college for year and then dropped out. Tried out for Iowa men’s golf team but didn’t make it.
Went back home and worked at the family car dealership business in small town Iowa until he was 42.
Left the business to be the superintendent at a rural 9 hole golf course.
Currently works 2nd shift in a warehouse.
He’s 64. Not sure when retirement will be for him.
On release days, he helps me package and ship the toddler bags.
The goal is to make him the first employee. Need to make it happen.

@Evansgolf1John Peter Thomson called ti-tree a “creeping weed”
There are places on the sandbelt where it’s strategically important - right of KH 16, through the fairway at RM 17 - but it’s a very overrated hazard.

@mikeclaytongolf @sbrittonturf @RyanNoades Looks even better now with the heathland vegetation covering the tee carry

A lovely afternoon on Peninsula Kingswood’s North course. It had so many of the ingredients I love in a golf course - sensible length par 3s, a healthy smattering of short par 4s, sensational bunkering with strategic questions asked in abundance. Just great work from @OCMGolf.

@MarkAllenGolf @AusGolfPassport @Barnbougle Also quite penal when your ball lands on the green and spins back into the rough protecting the bunker.

@AusGolfPassport @Barnbougle Last and latest picture looks best.
The “trend” of rough edges bunkers never looked good… ever.
Just my opinion.

It’s under-recognised just how much golf courses change as the years pass just from the effects of weather & play. @barnbougle Dunes 7th pictured here in 2004, 2011 & 2017. Check out this week’s episode for an hour of chat about our favourite Aussie golf getaway. Link in bio.
