@ukgolfguy @CaddieNetwork I'll just assume that by Edinburgh they actually mean East Lothian aka the city of Gullane which is 45 minutes away.
English

@JeffCarnage @CaddieNetwork It’s utter bilge! London may not be too happy either…
English

@ukgolfguy @CaddieNetwork Also… controversial to leave out Liverpool? Some epic courses within 20 miles of the city.
English

@jerichsen66 @emathias18 @jcorrigangolf HE WAS MAKING A COMMENT ABOUT THE SUN CONVERTING A DOLLAR TO 75P!!!! Can you really not see that?!
English

@emathias18 @jcorrigangolf Because so many people were silly enough to believe much of the bullshit narrative painted over the past four years.
English

I love this. Because the original quote says ‘it could be sold for one dollar’ as in a figurative take. It reminds me of a journalist who quoted a sportsman saying ‘I feel like a million dollars’. The sub changed it to ‘I feel like £635,000’

I have corrected the price for Prestwick on my blog which you can see here -
ukgolfguy.com/golf-blog/2026…
I had erronesouly compared this year's weekend price and last year's midweek price. Hence, this year's increase was 9% and last year's was 17%.
Apologies for the error!
English

@davetoad1980 Alas joining many of these clubs is really hard these days. Lots of closed waiting lists. Not all though.
English

@ukgolfguy Love to see you do soemthing similar for memberships!! Maybe highlight some great offers or taster ones?

A fantastic piece put together by @ukgolfguy below, truly brilliant read 👊👊

Here’s my annual look at UK summer green fee increases - Average top 100 green fees are ⬆️11.4% - over 3X the rate of inflation - The average top 25 course is now £407 (up 15% on 2025) Here's a thread with some thoughts. You can read it all on my blog too. 🧵1/12
English

@scowie26 @ukgolfguy You didn’t answer the question though. How did you play for £65
English

@Chrisdunngolfer Yes. I explain the methodology in the thread. Some are the same at weekends, some are different
English

@Verey1putt They changed it for this year recently so you did well to get in before!
English

@ukgolfguy I’m playing turnberry this may and it’s nowhere near £1000, but completely agree it’s getting a joke.
English

@Beausheep Thanks for this. I have added that into the graphic on the blog. Cheers
English

@ukgolfguy Just a comment on Royal St George’s. Whilst their greenfee has increased this year, it also now includes the full RSG lunch which it didn’t before. So the y-o-y comparison does not quite tell the full story.
English

@pkkenny71 Ooh, this is very good. Well done. I’ve not been to Falkirk Carmuirs. Intriguing indeed!
English

@ukgolfguy Through good fortune, auctions, reciprocals, my 2026 scottish list so far is:
Southerness
Falkirk Carmuirs (intrigued)
Gleneagles King's
Royal Burgess
Roxburgh
Blair Atholl (journey break)
Boat Of Garten
Grantown
Spey Valley
Nairn
Old Petty
All 4 balls - circa £3600
English

@GarrethAspinall Ha, let’s see whether it makes more sense on Monday!
English

@ukgolfguy Interesting that Lytham keep
Hiking the price especially given it won’t be an Open venue again…….
English

@johnny5carolan There are some ways, but without knowing members it gets harder and harder. Twilight rates and winter rates are often a thing of the past. Opens are very heavily subscribed. It’s getting tougher.
English

@ukgolfguy I always give the same reply
If you pay these rates then you are either very rich, desperate to play high season or time poor. But if you can afford them that’s great
BUT there are SO many ways to play these courses at a fraction of these walk up tack rates
English

@pitchmarks @mikeclaytongolf A pleasure. Next year I’m going to do 100 under £100 maybe!
English

@ukgolfguy @mikeclaytongolf David, what an exceptional piece of work this is. Very, very interesting; thank you for taking the time to put it together!
English

@ciw62 I cover that in the bit on methodology. Many courses have the same prices every day, some do have a little cheaper in the week. But it’s rarely more than £30 quid and the twilight rounds are largely a thing of the past.
English

@ukgolfguy I can't speak for all these course, but from those that i'm familiar with these green fees are the maximum rates for a few peak time weekend tee times. Substantially cheepers rates are available midweek, mornings or even mid afternoons.
English

@BCGolf2 @bamabearcat It is indeed. Try to be uniform with the approach.
English

@ukgolfguy @bamabearcat Is this just the weekend rates, Gullane is £285 midweek
