@CaroBowler @BTCMarkets The 🇦🇺 “crypto content” social media mob needs to be put under the microscope by @asicmedia - we need a light touch regulation to ensure people receive advice from those qualified to give it. We don’t need more “research companies” selling “strategy”, phone calls and “insights”.

@SimonJohnsonBTC @BTCMarkets Also true. They are required to hold an AFSL. There is so much that is positive and great about the industry. To your point, in a few years time, so much will have consolidated and hopefully improved.

@CaroBowler @CNBCi @BTCMarkets Reminds me of the dot com bubble. Companies will go under & they’ll be some consolidation and new companies will emerge. As an account holder of Binance I was shocked to read their email today, which had no mention of a guilty plea from CZ (Binance’s majority shareholder). 1/2

@AusCryptoCon Good decision @AusCryptoCon - it doesn’t stop there either. Speaking generally, I’m sick and tired of people who are giving financial advice or “research” under the guise of “join my group” / “subscribe to my channel”. Seen it all before prior to the Dotcom boom. #AusCryptoCon

Australian Crypto Convention
Australian Crypto Convention@AusCryptoCon·
We are today announcing that BitBoy (Ben Armstrong) will no longer be speaking at, nor attending, the Australian Crypto Convention this November in Melbourne. We initially invited Ben to join a panel alongside some of the industry's most respected names. The goal was to spark a challenging, open and honest conversation about the role, responsibilities and impact of influencers in the crypto space. The panel was designed to include an open Q&A, giving the community a direct role and voice in the conversation by allowing you to speak & ask the tough questions. With that being said, we want to make it clear; your voice matters to us. The overwhelming feedback from the Australian Web3 community has been heard loud and clear. Because of your strong input and in light of recent news, we've made the decision to remove BitBoy from our roster of speakers. The panel will go ahead as we believe this is still an important discussion to be had, and we don't want to shy away from difficult conversations in crypto. We want to thank everyone who has supported #AusCryptoCon. We are creating 2023’s largest crypto and Web3 event and we are confident that attendees will be blown away this November. AusCryptoCon brings value to the businesses and start-ups in this space, and achieves the one thing we want to encourage the most; community. Uniting the crypto, blockchain and Web3 communities of Australia and the APAC region creates more job and investor opportunities, more lucrative experiences, and more growth. We love that Aussies in Web3 are always supporting Aussies. We look forward to seeing you in November.

Yes it’s a big deal that 🇨🇳 broadcasted #crypto but State run media also broadcasted a ban on mining years ago. The big question is how / if the #cryptocurrency market will react. #bitcoin has been down 7.5% over the past month.

CCTV (China Central Television) just broadcasted crypto. It's a big deal. The Chinese speaking communities are buzzing. Historically, coverages like these led to bull runs. Not saying past predicts the future. And not financial advice. tv.cctv.com/2023/05/23/VID…

@BinanceUS it is that … there is too much noise from people who are not qualified to have an opinion, used car salesman, Gen Z wannabe influencers and social media fakes who have no idea how to build a real business and shouldn’t be providing (what is essentially) financial advice.

There are some misinformation (and confusion) about #Binance Australia. @Binance_AUS requested to cancel the derivatives license yesterday. The platform had exactly 104 users as of yesterday. @Binance_AUS will CONTINUE to operate the spot exchange in AU. 🙏

Typically some guy with a degree in TikTok in his late 20’s who wants people to “follow me on my crypto journey” or claims to have a team that “does research”. These people are a dime a dozen and @asicmedia should go after them. They’re ripping people off. Part 2 of 2.

The other elephant in the room are people who run paid “private groups” and are clearly giving financial advice, when they are not financial advisors and have no credentials. Same people are talking about stock market and real estate. Part 1 of 2. @Cointelegraph

There’s no evidence to support this! To say @binance put FTX about of business is just wrong. FTX was dodgy, it was promoted by people who had no clue about #crypto (including many YouTubers out to make a quick 💵). Not to mention that #FTX was run by cowboys. cc: @Binance_AUS
