Please come and see my poster at #Sfn2025 on how layer 6 callosal projection neurons modulate visual processing and convey ipsilateral eye responses in the monocular part of the visual cortex. Session Number: PSTR072 Sunday 16th November, 8 am - 12 pm

2/3 The atlas is accessible via the standardized BrainGlobe Atlas API: brainglobe.info/blackcap This allows the community to directly align their own experimental multimodal data to the common coordinate space of the atlas, see example:

How do individual neurons distinguish internal from external motion ? Please see this amazing study by my colleagues at Troy Margrie lab @SWC_Neuro #gs4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Our study on how to overcome off-target optical stimulation-evoked cortical activity in the mouse brain in vivo is now peer-reviewed published, please see: cell.com/iscience/fullt…

@ptrrupprecht 🙏for your thoughts. Certainly possible to test intensities <1 mW but then at some point you will run into the problem of actually activating the exogenous opsin. Re behaviour: Having a detectable weak neuronal response might be independent of a noticable behaviourial effect.

@SimonWeiler3 Re: intensity, I'm wondering why you didn't see any dependence on stimulation intensity between 1 and 15 mW. The study by Danskin et al. showed that the behavioral effect disappeared for red light at 1 mW. Would it be possible to repeat your experiments with <1 mW? 😅

Are you working with in vivo optogenetics? Ever wondered what the impact of shining laser light within the brain in the absence of exogenous opsins has on neuronal activity? PLEASE SEE biorxiv.org/content/10.110… & READ 🧵👇 work done @SWC_Neuro, thx Mateo Velez-Fort & Troy Margrie

@ptrrupprecht @SWC_Neuro That would be indeed interesting to see. I guess one would see activity in most areas that are directly or indirectly connected with the image/non image forming visual pathways.

@SimonWeiler3 @SWC_Neuro Very interesting to see this potentially indirect effect of light on the visual cortex! I'd be really curious whether one would see anything for the same paradigm in non-visual cortex, e.g., frontal cortex or somatosensory cortex...

4/5 So please consider factors such as the duration, intensity and wavelength, the fiber implantation site and the proximity of both the stimulation and recording site to the eyes and visual pathway in your experiment
