They really robbed Messi of the World Cup Golden Ball. Don't get me wrong, Rodri had a brilliant tournament, but this Spain team won this together. There isn't a single player I can point to and call the main man or the carry. On the other hand, Messi produced one of the biggest carry jobs in World Cup history to drag Argentina to the final. For most of the tournament, their attacking plan was basically "give it to Messi and pray", and he still delivered, game after game, to get them there. I guess nobody will talk about it because it's Messi who lost it. But if any other player had lost an individual award to Messi in this way, we would never hear the end of it.
