Super Typhoon Sinlaku has now hit a new peak intensity. 180 MPH (290 kph) winds and an 896 MBAR pressure.
She has, officially, joined the elite class of sub-900 MBAR Tropical Cyclones. The most intense kind of storm that can be produced by Earth’s oceans.
Incredibly, no EWRC appears to be imminent, which means there is almost nothing to stop Sinlaku from getting even stronger. This is not good.

Super Typhoon #SINLAKU is meteorological perfection this morning. Presentations don’t get much better than this in the world — this is most certainly now a Category 5.
ADT estimates are 160 kts (185 mph), 892 mb. And honestly, it might not be far off.

What we are seeing with Typhoon Sinlaku right now is one of the most extreme satellite presentations Earth is capable of constructing.
Look at the absolute perfect symmetry of the storm’s convectively cryogenic core. You only see this with some of the planet’s most powerful cyclones, and it is reminiscent of Hurricane Melissa’s appearance last year. Just completely insane.

Her scorching eye has carved out one of the sharpest and cleanest Stadium Effects I can ever recall, and her CDO is a superchilled whirlpool of the scariest storm conditions imaginable. We are witnessing meteorological insanity.
