DHS SHUTDOWN OFFER. @NewsHour has obtained this letter from the WH to Senators outlining their offer for ending the shutdown. Read here. But basic points: - Expand use, oversight of body cameras - Limit immigration enforcement at schools, churches, sensitive locations (voluntary) - Enforce use of visible ID for DHS law enforcement. Officers must state their agency and identification when asked. - Will not deport US citizens, as per the law and will codify that US citizens should not be detained except if a law is violated. This was first reported by @PunchbowlNews I believe.

#BREAKING #EXCLUSIVE The US military has accelerated the deployment of thousands of Marines and sailors to help reinforce US troops in the Middle East amid the war against Iran. Four officials tell Newsmax the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is deploying ahead of schedule from the West Coast and is expected to sail through the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East region after the Navy was ordered to surge additional fire power. The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group includes the USS Boxer amphibious assault ship—which serves as a mini aircraft carrier—and USS Portland and USS Comstock amphibious landing ships. A year ago this week, Ruben Ray Martinez, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Texas. But it was not until this past February, 11 months after the shooting, that ICE confirmed its involvement. It's now become the first publicly known instance of ICE fatally shooting a U.S. citizen as part of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. While the Department of Homeland Security says Martinez intentionally rammed his vehicle into an agent, recently released body cam footage — which shows shots being fired into Martinez's vehicle — calls that narrative into question. And one year later, Martinez's family is still searching for answers. @GeoffRBennett spoke with Ruben Martinez's mother, Rachel Reyes, and her attorney, Charles Stam.

COHEN: The people you fired were experts on Iran, were they not? PATEL: I don't believe so COHEN: They worked in counterintelligence, did they not? PATEL: I'm taking you at your word COHEN: You're the director. I'm not. You should know the answer

A Ghanaian man in his late 20s detained by ICE in NJ was transferred 10 times over 196 days, traveling 7,700+ mi. “The point is to not make it easy for them, so they give up.” More: inquirer.com/news/ice-deten…
