As a victim myself in Delhi whose entire family was evacuated by the Army on 3 Nov and saw with own eyes on the way stray animals dragging half-burnt bodies of our known before being relocated to Delhi Cantt Sadar Bazar Gurdwara sahib, if I don’t understand what 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom means then I probably need to visit a psychiatrist. I wish you had gone through my last 8-9 days tweets on the subject before sharing yr opinion. Thanks.

@AmarJit_IFS I respect your opinion but when GOI knows that from Oct 31- Nov 3 this happens every year and senior citizen’s time is wasted because of this issue why they specifically organize in these days specially after high commissioner’s role in foreign interference came.

It’s a public service for senior citizens.Govt also issues visas,passports, OCIs besides so many other public services. Should Govt stop all this? There are marriages of Sikhs held in this month all over the world.Nor do we stop performing our daily rituals.Hence I beg to differ.

As retired officials in India and those settled abroad are required to submit ‘Live/Life Certificates’ in the month of November every year to continue receiving their pensions uninterrupted, in foreign countries such a service is provided by holding consular camps in far flung areas by our Missions. This saves service seekers the troubling of travelling all the way to their nearest Indian Mission spending hundreds of dollars. But by harassing and threatening the GoI officials going for the duty, K-gang only puts the pensioners to inconvenience. Refusal of providing the security to the officials by host Govts makes it more difficult to organise such consular camps. Such shameful acts by these elements deserve condemnation by one and all.

RajivGandhi won 400+ LokSabha seats in December 1984 not because the majority community endorsed anti-Sikh pogrom but because of the sympathy wave post IG assassination. And we know the massacre took place because her two Sikh bodyguards who were meant to protect her breached the trust and killed her. So,these bodyguards were also in a way responsible for the killings of thousands of innocent Sikhs. How can they be our Shaheed or Yoddhas? Simply put, Sikhs 1984 massacre wouldn’t have happened if these bodyguards hadn’t been radicalised to assassinate the sitting PM.
