@wilson_dunham_f I think it also has to do with waste management and water treatments in the US. They apply heavy chemical treatments to industrial sewage to avoid salmonella reaching fresh water sources. This also supress the liablility from a farm if someone gets salmonella from eggs

I learned yesterday that in the USA egg washing is essentially REQUIRED to sell commercially and they must be refrigerated. (With some exceptions) In the EU however egg washing is essentially FORBIDDEN and eggs are sold commercially off the shelf at room temperature.

@ausar_the My favorite are pyramids, they're just basic 3D shapes that people have been building for 5k years. By acquiring one i'm fulfilling the ancient urge of triangular 3D shape

This is a personal opinion I reached after visiting several museums, zoos, and aquariums in the last few years: the best gift shop merch are the things that physically represent what the institution has on display.

@FlatEartherK1tt "please disappear from my timeline" Why boomers think users can control someone else's feed? Its your timeline bro, you fed the algorithm with your nonsense that resulted in me appearing. Its all your fault pops, you should get good at the curation of your own slop.

The aesthetic was called Global Village Coffee House and it was a reaction to 80s luxury and excess, where people wanted something that felt more authentic and less mass produced. They wanted to feel like they were in a coffee shop looking at the dogshit art on the wall, knowing it sucked but at least it was real and came from the heart. When I see it, I'm reminded of stores that didn't feel like sterile labs and felt like shops. It sounds like a Nora Jones CD. It tastes like a whole wheat bread turkey sandwich and mediocre black coffee. It's a comfy kind of nostalgia.

@Le_Unorthodox In 2004 some audiences were not sure abt the year Napoleon Dynamite took place bcse they had VCRs, cord phones, woodgrain walls, etc But they were rural poor, so that aesthetic in 2004 was accurate The audience didnt think people can just have old stuff and live in old places

Ok so I’m learning a decent amount of people actually thought Regular Show was set in the 80s or 90s. Idk about yall but I always thought the show was late 2000s-2010s to its core, with the reverence for previous decades (especially 80s) being a large part of that identity.

Something I read in Reader's Digest: A lady went to a counselor and said, "I always wanted to be a doctor, but I couldn't do it when I was young. Now I’m 45, and if I join medical school, I’ll be 51 by the time I graduate." The counselor replied, "How old will you be if you don’t join?" It left an indelible mark on me during those formative teenage years. Back then, Reader's Digest was sold in Hindi as Sarvottam. It was an incredible window to the world in those pre-internet, pre-global TV days!
