Ekitike debunks this to a degree. The issue is the profile of winger we have. Both Salah & Gakpo are predominantly scoring wingers. Yes, Salah can create, but first & foremost is a scorer. His first desire is to score. As a result of this, when you play a striker like Isak who needs to be fed chances, you're cutting off his supply playing those wingers. Ekitike is the type of striker who can come deep, collect the ball and create chances for self and others. That's not Isak's game. Isak is the same as Salah. Sit on the last man's shoulder and break in behind when the wingers break up the wing. Brings me to the 2nd part of the issue - lacking pace outside. When Slot said "we don't have a Jacob Murphy" he was slated for it, but he wasn't wrong, people just misunderstood. Newcastles wingers were profiled to platform Isak. For years Liverpools strikers were profiled to platform the wingers. Total 180. This is a personel issue, not a tactical one imo. #LFC

Yet somehow Arne Slot has made them all look a shadow of themselves. So why is he acting like another 3 or 4 signings suddenly fixes everything? Those players would just be walking into the exact same mess.
