The past 12 months have been out of this world. Quite literally. When I began to tell our story at @SiriusTechSpace we took incredible steps creatively and technologically, but the thing that enthralled audiences – from one to one or one to a theatre or the rest of the world – was our mission. Impressive, ambitious, inspiring, and the potential outcome… revolutionary. Any one point on Earth to another in less than 60 minutes. More on our science fact in another post. But first… meet ‘Face Forward’: My celebration of science fiction. An 8-portrait tribute to time and space in film and TV. I have been bringing portraits to life for over 30 years, capturing the personalities, the souls and the magic of individuals or vehicles. Many larger than life, but all worthy of preservation in art form. Here’s an interstellar showcase for gallery owners considering a new space-themed art exhibition as we head into 2026. The first 8 are ready for blast off 🚀 – Mars Attacks [Martian Ambassador – Himself] @TimBurtonArt – 2001: A Space Odyssey [David ‘Dave’ Bowman – Keir Dullea] – Doctor Who [The 10th Doctor – David Tennant] @bbcdoctorwho – Flash Gordon [Prince Vultan - @brianblessed ] @JamesAHogg2 – Star Trek [Captain James T. Kirk – @WilliamShatner ] – Alien [Xenomorph + Lieutenant Ellen Ripley – Sigourney Weaver] – Star Wars: A New Hope [Princess Leia – Carrie Fisher] @starwars @StarWarsUK – Armageddon [Harry S. We love it when nature does all our work for us (and some talented photographers in the right place at the right time!) This week, we’re letting the pictures do the talking as Earth has been in the grip of a G4 geomagnetic storm (or ‘Cannibal Solar Storm’), triggered by an X5.1 solar flare and a series of CME’s (Coronal Mass Ejections). It may sound like the elevator pitch for a disaster movie, but was actually mother nature in action and resulted in some truly spectacular Northern Lights! These amazing aurora photos were captured by @NASA, @nmsu, @tornadopaigeyy and @PaulAppleby_01 Here’s to the next 7 magically colorful days in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #NorthernLights #aurora #NASA #Space #aerospace #SpaceTech #weather #SpaceWeather

It’s been a busy 7 days in SpaceTech: From Miller’s Planet to Space Station Menus via NASA. – An Interstellar Celebration This week, we’re celebrating 11 years since Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending Interstellar had its initial theatrical release in the United States (November 5, 2014). That’s the equivalent to approximately 1.57 hours on Miller's Planet!!! Only another couple of hours until the 25th Anniversary. – NASA Leadership on-again-off-again-on-again The White House has renominated Jared Isaacman to be NASA administrator, the latest twist in the on-again-off-again process to select the agency’s next leader. Isaacman’s original nomination cleared a Senate committee in late April and was days away from a full Senate vote in May when Donald Trump announced its withdrawal after falling out with Elon Musk, who had championed billionaire entrepreneur, pilot, and commercial astronaut Isaacman. Currently, the nomination is back on again… – The Great Chinese Bake Off(world) OK, it was more of a BBQ with a few chicken wings, but this week Chinese astronauts aboard the Tiangong space station enjoyed humanity's first-ever real cooked food in space! A new hot air oven, delivered by the Shenzhou-21 spacecraft, is capable of generating temperatures up to 190ºC, meaning astronauts can finally cook in orbit rather than simply applying heat. That has to be a tasty challenge for the US BBQ market to respond to! Anyone for space-ribs? – ISS @ 25 The International Space Station (ISS) celebrated a historic milestone last weekend – 25 years of continuous human presence in orbit. Since November 2, 2000, more than 290 international astronauts have lived and worked onboard the space station, advancing science and fostering global cooperation for all mankind. In 2030, ISS will be decommissioned and deorbited into the Pacific Ocean. NASA is focusing on the development of the Lunar Gateway, a smaller space station that will orbit the moon and serve as a waystation for missions to the lunar surface. Private companies are developing and will operate new commercial space stations in the next phase of the Space Race 🚀 Here’s to the next 7 days in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #Interstellar #movie #NASA #China #cuisine #ISS #Space #aerospace #mobility #SpaceTech

In space, no one can hear you scream… but they can on X, so we thought we’d describe our top 5 scariest space movies in 50 words or less to celebrate Halloween 🎃 🚀 – 2001: A Space Odyssey [1968] A classic. Produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick and a screenplay co-written with Arthur C. Clarke. Astronauts, scientists, and a sentient supercomputer called HAL travel to Jupiter to investigate an alien monolith. Who knew the words “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that” could be quite so terrifying?!? – Alien [1979] Ridley Scott and H.R.Giger’s movie about hungry aliens on spacecraft sets the scene for ALL movies about hungry aliens on spacecraft. A nest of eggs, face-hugging, scurrying predators (small ‘P’) and ‘stomach problems’ pick off an interstellar cast including Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt and Ian Holm. – Event Horizon [1997] Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill and Joely Richardson are scientists sent to rescue the revolutionary starship Event Horizon. The crew are all found dead (of course) and this gore-fest swaps regular aliens for a ‘malevolent presence’ that drives everyone out of their interstellar minds. – The Thing [1982] Directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell, this gory space-horror flick set in Antarctica delivers ‘Alien with snow’ as a group of American research scientists are trapped on their base camp with an alien that can assume the shape of its victims + horrific extra limbs, fur and slime. – Life [2017] “Alien meets The Thing on the International Space Station”. We’re pretty sure that was the original pitch. Alien gave us a sci-fi horror movie featuring a famous cast without a clue who would survive. Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds and Hiroyuki Sanada all say “hold my (zero G) beer…” Here’s to the next 7 days (and screams) in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #2001ASpaceOdyssey #Alien #movie #EventHorizon #TheThing #Life #film #Halloween  #Space #Horror #SpaceTech

The last 7 days in SpaceTech: From Opera to Concorde (again) via balloons. – Isola Della Musica Opera House We love when a little bit of the future appears in the present – especially when it looks as if it has landed from another planet. That’s exactly what happened this week, when building began on the Isola Della Musica opera house in Hanoi. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and PTW Architects, its surface will change pearl-like appearance in different weather and light conditions and we don’t think this would look out of place on the Moon, but we’re glad it’s here on Earth! – United Airlines Flight UA1093 Hit by Space Debris. No, Wait… Weather Balloon When the windshield of United Airlines flight UA1093 was severely damaged during a flight from from Denver to Los Angeles this week, theories as to its cause we flying faster than the 737 MAX itself – from space debris to high-flying birds. We wanted it to be aliens, but sadly the truth appears to be far less exciting. Kai Marshland, co-founder of the weather prediction company WindBorne Systems put the speculation to rest “I think this was a WindBorne balloon.” – Concorde’s Final Commercial Flight Last month we posted about Concorde making its first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic from Washington, D.C. to Paris, France in 1973. This week, it’s about Concorde making its final commercial flights on this day – October 24, 2003 – with multiple routes from Edinburgh, London, and New York all landing at Heathrow Airport. The final overall flight took place a month later, on November 26, when Concorde G-BOAF flew from London to its final resting place at the Bristol Aerospace Museum. It’s National Album Day on October 18 2025 – yay! But only in the UK – boo! We can’t let the Brits have all the fun, so this week we’re celebrating our top 10 space-related albums anyway (in no particular order): 1 The Dark Side of the Moon [ Pink Floyd ] 2 Space Oddity / The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars [David Bowie] 3 Gravity [James Brown] 4 Rocketman [Elton John] (OK, we cheated there as it’s the soundtrack album from the movie) 5 Spacelab [Kraftwerk] 6 The Return of the Space Cowboy [Jamiroquai] 7 Alone in The Universe [Jeff Lyne’s ELO] 8 Harvest Moon [Neil Young] 9 Stardust [Willie Nelson] 10 There’s Nothing But Space, Man! [Sam Ryder] Music, art and entertainment are huge parts of the Sirius story and we’re looking forward to making beautiful music on and off the planet on a regular basis. We hope you’ll join us – and add to our SpaceTech playlist 🎶 🚀 Here’s to the next 7 days in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #NationalAlbumDay #SpaceTech #NationalAlbumDay2025 #Music #art #entertainment #space #mobility

To celebrate World Smile Day, we’re bringing together our top 3 SpaceTech images that put a smile on our faces, stay positive and spread joy on and off the planet. 1 The Very Large Telescope (VLT) at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) on Cerro Paranal in Chile's Atacama Desert – it is of course Pac-Man and the Moon! 🙂 🔭 2 Spaceballs 2 is in production!!! With Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks and Bill Pullman all returning to bring light relief to the galaxy in 2027 🚀 ☄️ 3 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial may be 43 years old (the movie, not the alien!) but we still believe ANY extra terrestrial can be made less threatening with a little dress-up. Just imagine a xenomorph in a cape and a floppy hat and suddenly that face-hugger anxiety simply fades away. 👽 🎩 World Smile Day's 2025 theme is "Do an act of kindness. Help one person SMILE!” We hope we’ve made some of you smile with our SpaceTech News and encouraged you to think big, change the world and join us on our adventure… Making Space Universal. Here’s to the next 7 days – and 7 smiles – in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #WorldSmileDay #WorldSmileDay2025 #PacMan #astronomy #Spaceballs #Spaceballs2 #comedy #ET #space #mobility #SpaceTech

The last 7 days (and 6 decades) in SpaceTech: From Concorde to Beatles via the Sun. – Supersonic Seventies This very week In 1973, Concorde made its first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic from Washington, D.C. to Paris, France in a record-breaking time of 3 hours and 33 minutes. The supersonic aircraft was an industry game-changer, allowing passengers to arrive before they took off (thanks to timezones, rather than actual time travel). We love the parallels between Concorde and our own ASCA3 shuttle, set to travel from any one point on Earth to another in under 60 minutes. And that really will feel like time travel 🚀 – NASA IMAP: The Space Weather Forecast NASA’s IMAP (Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe) mission launched this week aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9, set to study the Sun’s magnetic influence. Exploring the heliosphere, it aims to map charged particles and solar wind, crucial for understanding space weather. The mission will analyze how the Sun affects satellites, astronaut safety and conditions for life on Earth. – Abbey Road: Beatles and Beyond 56 years ago today, The Beatles forever made a crosswalk famous when they released their 11th studio album ‘Abbey Road’, recorded at the iconic London venue of the same name. To celebrate, we’ll ‘come together’ (see what we did there) at the studios this evening as guests of Oxford University to hear about a very special space-related project as part of the Schwarzman Centre’s inaugural year of cultural activity. Here’s to the next 7 days – and 6 decades – in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #Concorde #supersonic #NASA #IMAP #astronomy #AbbeyRoad #TheBeatles #music #art #OxfordUniversity #SchwarzmanCentre #mobility #SpaceTech

The last 7 days in SpaceTech: From Apollo to Exo via Rolls. – Apollo 13 at 30 The Apollo 13 movie celebrates its 30th anniversary with the spectacular cinematic re-release in IMAX theatres this week. Last month we sadly lost Jim Lovell, Commander of the original Apollo 13 mission, but the passion for the movie and the historic events behind it live on as testament to human endeavour and technological achievement. We salute the crew, Tom Hanks and Ron Howard. – Rolls Royce Cosmos A some point most car brands commission an ‘art car’. It will serve as a promotional work for an event and end up gracing a showroom or HQ. @rollsroycecars has taken a different approach with this one-off commission from from a Dubai-based client, celebrating the drama of space. Say hello to the ‘Cullinan Cosmos’. The stunning Starlight Headliner is created from 20 applications of acrylic paint over 160 hours by a talented in-house Rolls-Royce artist, depicting the Milky Way with colors adjusted to match the client’s Star Cluster motif. The final artwork is then brought to life with fibre-optic perforations individually punched and positioned by hand to add the glowing night sky effect. Price? If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. – 6,000 (Exo)Planets and Counting This week, we celebrate another 30 year milestone. The official number of exoplanets (planets outside our solar system) tracked by NASA has reached 6,000! Dawn Gelino, head of NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration Program summed up the importance of tracking and categorization. “Each of the different types of planets we discover gives us information about the conditions under which planets can form and, ultimately, how common planets like Earth might be. If we want to find out if we’re alone in the universe, all of this knowledge is essential.” Here’s to the next 7 days – and 6,000 Exoplanets – in SpaceTech from all at @SiriusTechSpace #Apollo13 #movie #TomHanks #NASA #scifi #astronomy #exoplanets #RollsRoyce #cars #art #aerospace #mobility #SpaceTech

The last 7 days in SpaceTech: From Bowie to LEGO via Mars. – There’s a Star Man This week, London’s @V_and_A East Storehouse began a creative celebration of the ultimate Star Man – David Bowie. The new David Bowie Centre features guest-curated small displays and unrealised projects with the inaugural exhibition including objects selected by Nile Rodgers and The Last Dinner Party from the 90,000 items stored at the venue. Music is one of the many creative catalysts that drive us and in the words of the great artist himself “Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming”. We couldn’t agree more 🚀 – Life on Mars (not another Bowie headline) According to a paper published last week in the journal Nature, a sample collected by NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover from an ancient dry riverbed could preserve evidence of ancient microbial life. The sample contains potential biosignatures and this discovery could be the closest we have ever come to discovering life on Mars! – Set Phasers To Build In 2021 William Shatner may have thought Everything Is Awesome when he reached the final frontier aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard, but the @LEGO_Group now plans to beam some exciting new products down to Earth. On Star Trek Day (Monday Sept 8), Lego made a bold announcement to kick off the show’s 60 anniversary year… “LEGO Star Trek Coming Soon. Boldly go where no one has gone before. Prepare for warp speed. Resistance is futile.” The 60th anniversary celebrates ‘Space for Everybody’ and we could’t agree more! Our own mission statement at @SiriusTechSpace is “Making Space Universal. Access to Space for All by 2040”. We’ll be democratising space travel – with a little inspiration from Captain Kirk and LEGO. Here’s to the next awesome 7 days in SpaceTech from us all. #StarTrek #StarTrek60 #LEGOStarTrek #LEGO #NASA #scifi #Mars #Bowie #DavidBowie #Music #art #aerospace #mobility #SpaceTech
