And 2027 could finally be the year Mumbai gets a network worth calling city-wide. @sabahvir has mapped EVERY SINGLE Metro line to update you on what's ready, what's coming, & what remains a distant promise. Good start to the month: from today 4 pm onwards, wrong-side driving and two wheelers on footpaths are officially banned in Mumbai. Great news for everyone.

@ccphusrox na, right now, you could maybe rely on your city’s edition for some city news (like Mid-Day does well on Mumbai news), but otherwise beyond that no. The Wire, Scroll, Maktoob. more importantly, follow journalists who you know are legit good. better than following publications

I have been extremely frustrated trying to find a newspaper I can trust. TOI and HT are beyond saving, but even The Hindu and Indian Express are spinning “silver linings” in an energy crisis. Is centre-right the best we get from news media in India? Any better recommendations?

1/ Meet Kabir Singh, an Indian scammer who impersonates Apple support and then rips off innocent vulnerable people. He tried to scam me......but instead of paying him money, I hacked into his laptop and redeemed $10,000 worth of giftcards live on webcam!

One of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Breaking Away. Such a lovely movie. Also fun fact, this movie was (badly) plagiarized by a Bollywood nepo kid to make a random Archie comics like movie called JJWS, without any of the working class angst. youtu.be/qhiqjAAILGg?si…

After 30 years of planning, Navi Mumbai Airport opened in 2025 without NO REAL RAPID TRANSIT LINK. The nearest rail station is 3.2 km away with commuter trains every 60 minutes, the other station is 8.3km away, crowds heavily, and both require unreliable shuttle buses to access. No cabs were ready to take any trips In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, transport has become a massive struggle by design. Bad planning is now a norm.

Wheelers book stalls going! It is the end of an era of Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling's dream on Indian Railways. One of Indian Railways’ most iconic features—the Wheeler book stalls— are set to disappear from stations across Mumbai’s Western Railway network, marking the end of a nearly century-old legacy. #Mumbai

A couple of days ago, OTTPlay, the website I used to write for, shut down. It was abrupt and no one had an inkling. As someone escaping a blazing house, my knee-jerk reaction was to save the few pieces I was happy with. The shock came a little later and remains.

Delighted to share that @Reuters has won India’s most prestigious journalism honour — the Ramnath Goenka Award — for business reporting for the investigation that revealed how Apple supplier Foxconn rejected married women from India iPhone assembly jobs because they had more family responsibilities than unmarried women. The story had immediate and lasting impact. Modi's government called for an investigation within hours of the story being published, and the women's wing of Modi's party, India's human rights agency and opposition parties all reacted to it. The story became a major talking point on TV news and talk shows, as well as in newspaper editorials. Indian labour officials visited the Foxconn factory as part of the probe. Foxconn changed its policy: the company quietly tweaked its hiring protocols. It ordered its hiring agents who helped recruit iPhone assembly workers to remove age, gender and marital criteria from job ads. For some Indian women, a job building iPhones is a ticket out of poverty. Between January 2023 and May 2024, Reuters made more than 20 trips to Sriperumbudur. We also reviewed a candidate information pamphlet, dozens of job ads and records of WhatsApp discussions in which four of Foxconn’s third-party recruiters stated to prospective candidates that only unmarried women were eligible for assembly jobs. 🙏 It was an important story. Apple is positioning India as an alternative manufacturing base to China. India PM Modi sees Foxconn’s iPhone factory and Apple’s broader supply chain as helping the world’s most populous country move up the economic value chain. With @PraveenR_P, @MunsifV. Special thanks to our editor for the project, David Crawshaw. @ReutersPR

This is influencer Mukesh Mohan. Not long ago, he stormed into the national spotlight by dropping a hard-hitting video on Nitin Gadkari’s alleged beef business — a video that was firmly rooted in The Caravan’s explosive investigative report. Now, for doing exactly that, the same Mukesh Mohan has been hit with a massive ₹50 crore defamation suit — and an FIR slapped on top of it. The man has been dragged through Nagpur police stations for the last two days straight, running from one counter to another, while the authorities have already seized one of his phones. Let this sink in: The Caravan report was the original source that blew the lid off the beef business. Mukesh Mohan simply made a video based on that very report and credible sources. So tell me — how “justified” is it to file an FIR and slap a ₹50 crore defamation case on an influencer for simply speaking on a story that an award-winning magazine had already exposed? @MukeshMohannn

Tele MANAS is a great initiative, but shoddily executed. A person with suicidal thoughts wouldn't type a long URL - telemanas<dot>mohfw<dot>gov<dot>in. Downloading app is too much friction. And if you reach the website, you first have to say hello to everyone involved.
