@MelanieBennet_ Notice he said: "And I’ll be damned if I’m going to stand here and listen to someone say that the parents deserve rights over a child."
Issue is it's not any random child, it's THEIR child.

Nova Scotia's education minister delivered a fiery speech against parents rights and limiting trans care for minors in an exchange in the legislature.
“My parents were a sperm donor and an egg donor. That’s it. They gave me some genes and walked the heck away," he said describing his troubled upbringing.
“And I’ll be damned if I’m going to stand here and listen to someone say that the parents deserve rights over a child. No, they don’t. They absolutely don’t.”
Referring to my exclusive reporting on bottom surgeries approved by Nova Scotia Health for trans teens, he said:
“If you’re going to quote someone … rather Gandhi than Hitler. Not saying that these people are either. Just know who you’re quoting,” he said.
He called the material “disgusting” and “gross.”

Floor crossers give democracy and voters the middle finger. Why do we even bother voting if the person you picked can betray you the moment it's convenient for them? This should be banned. It spits on the notion that citizens have a say in their country.

@wyatt_claypool I think your revelation is important though. It shows she capitulates to identity politics. It shows she accepts the premise that her perspective is limited due to her "lived experiences." Not suitable for a Conservative Premier.

@wyatt_claypool Good points. I was too broad. And I applaud you. This said I doubt there is an Indigenous-specific thesis written in the past 10 years that does not acknowledge identity, whether written by indigenous or non. Modern qualitative research requires it.

BOMBSHELL: Here is a section from Caroline Elliott's SFU Thesis on Indigenous Governance from 2024.
She is in fact a Woke BC Liberal.
"I am mindful of [the colonialism] concern and I am hopeful that readers of my research will be as well;
in fact, it leads directly to a final cautionary note: the fact that I am, intellectually, a product of Western political theory. As much as I sincerely try to accurately, fairly, and sensitively consider Indigenous constitutionalism, this remains the case."
"As Carens writes, “[a]ny non-Aboriginal person like me who writes about the topic of Aboriginal self-government is bound to think about the problem of perspective” (2000 180). In his view, which I agree with, the problem really lies in any suggestion that non-Indigenous analysis is the one right way to think about these issues."
She is being apologetic for being non-Indigenous writing on Indigenous topics LOL.

The reserve closest to my home has a non-stop line of people buying a sleeve of zyn for 9 hours every day of the week. They are making an absolute killing.
About 10 of the 30 guys I play hockey with are doing 3 to 5 pouches a day and none of them were smokers beforehand.

@nationalpost The real answer is lobbyists have put their money behind the right since the Liberals have cornered the market.

It’s absolutely perfect…
A liberal man in NYC yelling about how everyone is welcome, as a Muslim man yells "Allahu Akbar!" and uses him as a literal springboard to throw a homemade bomb.

I was in the middle of saying “as a born and raised New Yorker, we welcome everyone into this city” when he threw that over my head.
