@drahomiraba1 To je skvělej argument. Řekla bych, že to každej vnímá svou optikou a když se podívám na svůj život a řeknu si, jestli bych se chtěla narodit znovu, odpovím rozhodně ano. Takže tutéž možnost chci dát dalším bytostem - svým dětem. Pokud by odpověď zněla ne, bylo by to taky jasný.

Zaujalo mě, že rozhodnutí mít/nemít dítě je vždycky spojované s ekonomickými důvody (včetně nedostatku školek, lékařů nebo nechutí zaměstnavatelů nabízet částečné úvazky). Já spíš myslím na to, proč přivádět na svět dítě, když vím, co mu hrozí, co se mu může stát, čím bude procházet, do jak komplinovanýho světa se narodí, kolik prožije bolesti a trápení a kolik slz vybrečí, co všechno ho čeká a čím bude muset projít a jestli jsem dost dobrý a silný rodič na to, abych mu s tím životem co nejvíc pomohla. Tohle je PRO MĚ podstatnější otázka, než peníze. Jo, a tenhle tweet není o důchodech a o tom, kdo bude vydělávat na seniory, když nebude další generace, tohle je moje úvaha o tom, jak zodpovědný rozhodnutí je bejt rodič, a akceptuju váš rozdílnej pohled na svět. Nicméně za urážky blokuju.

Dostali jsme pozvání od přátel, které se neodmítá. Na místa, která podle ruských propagandistů budou brzy zase patřit Rusku. Chtěla jsem je navštívit, dokud tam ještě fungují splachovací toalety. V březnu ‘23 jsme navštívili Aljašku. Naštěstí to nebylo “Na ostří nože” 😉 1/29

Jestli máš nějaký problémy, prosím řekni mi to, vyzvala mě ta skvělá mladičká doktorka. Tak jsem ji to řekla. OK, vezmu tě do džungle za mnichy, rozhodla a objednala tuktuk. Čekala jsem nějakej buddhistickej chrám uprostřed zeleně, kde se po nádvoří procházej desítky mnichů v oranžovejch a šafránovejch rouchách. akorátževůbec Teda barvu hábitů jsem trefila, ale jinak jsem byla vedle jak ta kokosová palma. Když jsme to místo konečně našli: i řidič se musel třikrát ptát na cestu, tak to spíš než chrám připomínalo starý autobusový nádraží. Na jediný pevný zdi byly obří nástěnky popsaný random rozsypaným čajem a pod nima seděli v koženejch křeslech, který pamatovaly dobu, kdy Britové udělaly z Cejlonu svou kolonii, tři mniši. Doktorka i řidič, kterej tam zůstal s náma zřejmě z obavy, že už tam znovu netrefí, před každým z mnichů poklekli a sklonili hlavu k zemi; udělala jsem to samý. Pak jsme se prosadili na miniaturní dřevěný stoličky před hlavního mnicha: odhadovala jsem, že je plus minus v mým věku, ale doktorka mi pak řekla, že mu je 70. V jejich řeči mu dlouze vysvětlovala, proč přicházíme, což jsem ani netoužila, aby mi přeložila. Mnich se na mě velmi hluboce a velmi laskavě podíval a k mýmu velkýmu překvapeni mi začal anglicky vysvětlovat smysl života, vesmíru a vůbec a pak taký mám meditovat, pozorovat svůj dech a nic nehodnotit. Tady musím přiznat, že jeho schopnost mluvit anglicky byla výrazně lepší, než má schopnost anglicky rozumět. Nicméně natolik znám principy buddhismu, že jsem něco pobírala, i když mě docela překvapovalo, proč pořad říká slovo movie, než mi po půl hodině konečně došlo, že nemluví o bollywoodským filmu, ale říká: more we. No a tenhle mnich, z jehož očí jsem celou dobu nespustila ty svoje, nakonec řekl to, co dávno dobře vím, jen jsem to celej loňskej rok vědět nechtěla. Řekl: You should give love and kindness to others. But you can’t expect them to give it to you back. A jeśtě: Only your expectations make you unhappy. A tak vám teď dávám tohle srdce schovavaný za čtvero dveřma a nic za to neočekávám. (except likes😍)

“Calvin & Hobbes” might be the purest comic strip ever in the artistic sense. Despite its success — syndicated in 2k+ papers and 45m books sold — creator Bill Watterson avoided licensing. By not licensing the IP for games and toys, he left an estimated $400m on the table. He also refused to do an animated adaptation (even when approached by Hollywood legends like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg). Watterson liked his low-tech process and believed the purest artistic expression of the comic strip medium was a single person writing every word and penning every stroke. He believed this purity was compromised by commercialization, which is also why Watterson ended the strip after a 10-year run (1985 to 1995). Instead of milking the comic, Watterson shut it down at the top. He gave an amazing explanation as to why during an interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2010: ➡️ “This isn't as hard to understand as people try to make it. By the end of 10 years, I'd said pretty much everything I had come there to say. It's always better to leave the party early. If I had rolled along with the strip's popularity and repeated myself for another five, 10 or 20 years, the people now "grieving" for "Calvin and Hobbes" would be wishing me dead and cursing newspapers for running tedious, ancient strips like mine instead of acquiring fresher, livelier talent. And I'd be agreeing with them. I think some of the reason "Calvin and Hobbes" still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it. Understanding Confidence Intervals 1/ Let’s start with a scenario: Imagine a doctor wants to estimate the average blood pressure of all adults. It's impractical to measure everyone, so she takes a sample of 100 adults and calculates the average blood pressure to be 120 mmHg. 2/ Now, the doctor knows that this is just an estimate, and if she took another sample, she might get a different average. So, how can she express the uncertainty around her estimate? 3/ Enter Confidence Intervals (CIs): A CI is a range of values, derived from the sample data, that is likely to contain the true value of an unknown population parameter. 4/ For example, the doctor might say she is 95% confident that the average blood pressure of all adults is between 115 and 125 mmHg. This is a 95% confidence interval. 5/ How to calculate it? For a 95% CI, you would use the sample mean (average) +/- 1.96 * (standard deviation / sqrt(sample size)). The 1.96 comes from the fact that 95% of the area under a normal distribution curve lies within 1.96 standard deviations of the mean. 6/ So, if our doctor's sample had a standard deviation of 10 mmHg, the 95% CI would be 120 +/- 1.96*(10/sqrt(100)) = 120 +/- 1.96, or 118.04 to 121.96 mmHg. 7/ Interpretation is key: Saying “I am 95% confident that the average blood pressure is between 118.04 and 121.96 mmHg” does NOT mean that there is a 95% chance that the true average falls in this range. 8/ Instead, it means that if you were to take many samples and compute a 95% confidence interval for each one, about 95% of these intervals would contain the true average blood pressure. 9/ It’s important to choose an appropriate confidence level. 95% is common, but in some cases, you might want a higher or lower level. For example, if the consequences of being wrong are very severe, you might choose a higher confidence level, like 99%. 10/ However, higher confidence levels result in wider intervals, and vice versa. So, there is always a trade-off between precision and confidence. 11/ Limitations: CIs assume that your data is normally distributed, which may not always be the case. Also, they can sometimes be misinterpreted or misused, so it’s important to understand them properly and communicate them clearly. 12/ In summary, confidence intervals are a useful tool for expressing the uncertainty around an estimate, but they have their limitations and should be interpreted and communicated carefully. #Statistics #DataScience

Napsal mi muž, kterého VŠICHNI znáte. Ano, opravdu VŠICHNI. Zeptal se na to, jestli mají roudničtí kulturní bydlení a jak může pomoci. Dohodli jsme se, že se dnes odpoledne sejdeme, aby došel k vlastnímu úsudku. Přišel s dcerou, začal se zajímat o lidi, jejich příběhy, bydlení. Zavolal jsem na Aljonu, ať povypráví o tom, co pálí nejvíc. To jsem vám už psal, že na patře neteče teplá voda a že se 9 rodin chodí sprchovat na jeden bojler do sklepa a že není teplá voda na mytí nádobí? Od března.. Dohodli jsme se, že tuhle část pomoci zkusí prosadit on. Mezitím si jeho dcera padla do noty s Dášou, což vyústilo v Dáši odchod na společnou procházku. Z jeho sociálních profilů byste se to nedověděli. Pomáhá, ale nepíše o tom. A já měl díky tomu možnost mu konečně poděkovat. Za Levandulovou.
