@SkullAberration I use texture and then mix it with random darker/lighter hairs, darker roots and tips. You can see my shader set up in the sample available to download on Blender's webpage.

@JoannaKobierska One more question, do you have any kind of workflow for coloring fur outside of just using texture paint? I've had a lot of issue painting fur color due to having to view fur in full resolution to see how the texture looks
