बहुत ही कम उम्र में पिताजी के अचानक चले जाने के बाद उनकी जगह पर मुझे सरकारी नौकरी मिल रही थी। हर तरफ से यही आवाज़ आ रही थी — बेटा, नौकरी ले लो, वर्ना घर चलेगा कैसे | मैं असमंजस में था। एक तरफ पिता की यादें, दूसरी तरफ घर की कठिन परिस्थितियाँ और तीसरी तरफ मेरे दिल में पढ़ने और पढ़ाने की तीव्र इच्छा । तब माँ मेरे पास आकर बोलीं – बेटा मैं तो पापड़ बनाना जानती ही हूँ | किसी तरह से घर चल जायेगा | तुम्हारी इच्छा अधूरी नहीं रहनी चाहिए। शायद सिर्फ एक माँ ही होती है, जो खुद जलती रहे, लेकिन बच्चे के सपनों का दीपक जलाए रखती है । मदर्स डे की ढेरों सारी शुभकामनायें | #mothersday #superinfinity #Super30

सुना था वक्त अक्सर इम्तिहान लेता है, पिछले कुछ महीनों से मैं यह अनुभव भी कर रहा हूँ। साल की शुरुआत में ही, मैंने पहले अपने नौजवान बेटे को खो दिया और फिर, इस महीने, 14 April को Singhitarai Power Plant में हुए अफसोसजनक हादसे ने, मुझसे 25 बेशकीमती साथी छीन लिए। मैं ऐसी असामयिक मृत्यु का दर्द भली भाँति जानता हूँ। दोनों ही हादसे, इतने unnatural से, पीड़ा से भरे लगते हैं, जिसकी कोई कल्पना नहीं कर सकता। मुझे दुख और हैरत होती है सोचकर कि हमारे इस Athena plant में हमने सर्वोच्च सावधानी बरती, इस plant की पूरी जिम्मेदारी भी हमने Hindustan की सबसे भरोसेमंद महारत्न company NTPC-GE की partnership NGSL को सौंपी। Contractors और Employees भी उनके थे। Expertise भी उनका था। और इसी भरोसे पे निश्चिंत होकर हमने इस plant का रखरखाव और operations, outsource किया था। फिर भी यह दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण हादसा हो गया। यह वैसा ही है जैसे अक्सर वाहन मालिक, अपना वाहन किसी भरोसेमंद Driver को दे देते हैं। और उम्मीद करते हैं कि वाहन चालक और वाहन, नियमों के साथ चलकर सलामत रहेंगे। Vedanta के हर contract में safety पे सबसे ज़्यादा focus रहता है। और NTPC और GE की भी यही policy रही है। उसके बाद भी इतनी बड़ी दुर्घटना हो जाए तो दिल टूट जाता है। मेरे बेटे Agnivesh सहित, जो 25 प्रियजन हमने खोए हैं, उन सभी जनों को मैं, Vedanta परिवार और अपनी ओर से श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करता हूँ। सच है कि होनी पर तो कोई बस नहीं है। Athena Plant के सारे के सारे पीड़ितों को मुआवज़ा मिल चुका है और आगे भी हमसे Vedanta Group Chairman के रूप में जो भी हो पाएगा, वो हम ज़रूर करेंगे।

हमारा देश, जितना खूबसूरत, उतने ही खूबसूरत हमारे त्यौहार। मुझे तो खासतौर पर वैशाख महीने में आने वाला बैसाखी का त्यौहार बहुत शुभ और हमारी मिट्टी की खुशबू से भरपूर लगता है। बैसाखी सोचते ही मीलों तक फैले पंजाब के लहलहाते खेत नज़र आते हैं। धरती माँ की उपजाऊ गोद हम सबका पेट भरने के लिए अन्नपूर्णा बन जाती है। जहां पंजाब और उत्तर भारत में फसलों का त्यौहार बैसाखी के तौर पर मनाया जाता है, वहीं असम में रोंगाली बिहू, केरल में विषु और बंगाल में पोहेला बोइशाख में अन्न और अन्नदाता को अलग-अलग रंगों और मान्यताओं से पूजा जाता है। मैं कभी-कभी सोचता हूँ कि इस त्यौहार में कितनी हिंदुस्तानियत है और कितनी गहरी जीवन की सीख भी। सबसे बड़ी सीख वही है जो हमारे पुरखों ने सिखाई है : “जो बोएगा, सो पाएगा।“ यह त्यौहार हमें बताता है कि एक छोटा सा बीज भी अपने अंदर कितनी ताकत समेटे होता है। जब वही बीज मिट्टी में बोया जाता है, तो उसमें एक पूरी फसल छुपी होती है। मुझे यह देखकर खुशी होती है कि हमारे नौजवान आज agriculture में नई सोच के बीज बो रहे हैं। आज का युवा सिर्फ खेती नहीं कर रहा, वो farming को redefine कर रहा है। Engineers, MBA और corporate jobs छोड़कर अब मिट्टी से जुड़ रहे हैं। Hydroponics, Vertical Farming और Organic Farming जैसे नए तरीके अपनाकर, Broccoli, Avocado और कई exotic crops तक उगाई जा रही हैं। Startups, apps, drones और AI के साथ farming अब smarter भी है और profitable भी। ये नौजवान सिर्फ खेती नहीं कर रहे, ये उस पुरानी सोच को बदल रहे हैं कि खेती में कोई भविष्य नहीं। यही तो है असली बैसाखी की भावना, सही सोच के बीज बोओ, तो कल सुनहरी फसल ज़रूर उगेगी। बैसाखी, पोहेला बोइशाख, विषु और बिहू की ढेरों बधाइयाँ। वैसे आज आपके यहाँ क्या पकवान बन रहे हैं? comments में ज़रूर बताइएगा।
