Contrary to Guyenot's lunatic disbelief in the existence of the Middle Ages, our civilization is unmistakably Christian, though being dechristianized, i.e. destroyed, since the modern revolutions and the cultural revolution started in the 1960's. While sharing a common Christian foundation, Eastern Europe is not entirely part of Western civilization, the very meaning of which derives from the schism between the Catholic West and the Orthodox East. The pagans believed in destiny (fatalism) and performed animal sacrifices (including human ones, which were essential in Celtic paganism) to obtain favors or to know the future predetermined in advance by the gods. Christianity liberated us from such sacrifices. Pagan society was fundamentally corrupt (clientelism, patronage, and the buying of votes). The ✝️ led us from a state of fatalism and corruption to the notion of free will (Christ, Saint Paul, and Saint Augustine—the pagans having only a notion of political liberty) and of social and personal responsibility. This enabled an economy that was not massively founded on slavery, as was the case in pagan societies. Influential pagan thinkers viewed the material world either as negative (Plato) or as divine and untouchable (the Stoics). As a result, all early attempts at experimental science were aborted. The ✝️ led us from a negative vision to a balanced and positive vision of the material world (creation ex nihilo by God, viewed as “good” and representing logical order: experimental science born during the Middle Ages did not abort but developed strongly), and so on, while retaining what was good in Greek thought (philosophical approaches). The ✝️ suppressed pagan abominations such as the systematic pederasty practiced among the Greeks and Celts (it was limited to slaves and prostitutes among the Romans), while preserving the positive aspects of the Roman legal and administrative system. It abolished laws authorizing abortion and the murder of children and wives (which were legal in paganism as long as they lived under the same roof), homosexuality, consanguineous marriages, and so forth. The ✝️ invented hospitals and universities, enabled the development of the sciences, the invention of musical notation and the resulting works, the treasures of Gothic architecture and illuminated manuscripts, etc. Without the ✝️, our civilization is destroying itself. This process began with the modern revolutions, and we are apparently well advanced in this destruction with the very strong anti-✝️ poison that has been injected into us since the postmodern revolution of the 1960s.
