Ill be joining Kakkoii in APAC-S until the split is over, in hopes that we will qualify for the Championship. My points push them into the top 32, and if we finish the split strong enough, I believe we will qualify. Wish us luck :D

Rocket League World Championship Update 🚨 We hereby confirm that the #2 Seed out of the MENA Region - Team ‘Anything’ - has forfeited their spot at the upcoming Rocket League World Championship. As the #3 through #8 seeds in MENA are unable to field a roster for the event in the time remaining, another team has been invited to ensure the tournament is played with 16 teams. As the EU region collected the most RLCS points at Majors this season, we have invited the next best team outside of the Top 4 from that region's leaderboard to the upcoming event in Fort Worth, Texas - @OXG_RL. We welcome @Joyokamii, @OskiRL, and @ArchieRL_ as the 16th team to complete our line-up!

Wanted to apologize for a few parts of this piece in which I was incorrect and the community let me know in (relatively) respectful ways. ...and wanted say a bit about people handling it in less sane ways.

$150 (CAD) yearly. Give me RLTV. I can watch a stream with any language commentary, any player view, LAN ticket discounts, and select partners (like orgs) can upload exclusive content which they earn money from revenue sharing. THAT'S a product. We can't rely on ads forever.
Oliver Bass@BassFromThePast

Since PPV for esports is back on the timeline again I've got a question. How much (if any) would yall be willing to pay for a like yearly pass to an esports league? And if you would, what other content would you want included in it? Player Interviews? Analyst pieces?

There's a reset coming in the Rocket League competitive scene that many are still largely unprepared for. Recently, I've had numerous talks with players, content creators, and ownership across different teams in the ecosystem that we can't rely only on a competitive calendar alone to create value - it's simply not enough. Even in our case where we have players with a big presence and the incredible backing of an amazing partner for the team, it's critical that we continue to find new ways to deliver value for them outside of tournaments. One of the major problems in the ecosystem is that we still haven't cracked the code for the right way to develop and promote digital goods: feedback I've collected from the majority of teams were that decals sales were very disappointing. We need to make it clear to both fans and players that in the near-term we're in the business of marketing the game and specifically the skins in it. I believe this is still currently the most viable revenue stream for esports that's best aligned with what viewers and the playerbase is actually willing to spend money on. Team decals were a good, then innovative start, but we need to evolve the offering and find better integrations within the competitive scene. I'm still relatively new to the scene so I've refrained from speaking out too much on this topic, but there's so much potential still left to unlock that we've only scratched the surface of. As an org, we're still absolutely committed to Rocket League esports - it's one of the most brand and user-friendly esports out there, with a dedicated and amazing fan and playerbase. If we can make progress to create value through better content, sales of in-game digital items, and increased visibility & integration supported by Epic, we can have an exciting esport that teams and brands would again jump to invest into. I know much of the above seems like doom and gloom, but I actually think we are beginning to take these right steps. Now with a longer term owner of the competitive circuit, I'm beginning to more clearly see how a viable path can be developed to create a more sustainable esports ecosystem for Rocket League, and it's one that I'm excited to contribute to as an organization that wants to build for the long run.
Jack Collier@CorelliTV

Glad someone else from an org is saying this than the stupid caster man (me). It has baffled me that orgs will pay players these amounts for no media presence. Esports is not sports, at least not yet. Orgs and players have to work together to build revenue streams. Sustainability is paramount for orgs and players. And I want both to be successful.

Hey everyone. Moving on from Overwatch. To keep it short I’ve fallen out of love for the game and esport. I’ve stopped playing the game entirely a few months ago and stopped caring. OW esports is dead to play full time and I’ve lost all dopamine from the game post season 9 health changes after 8 years of playing. Regardless the real, more important reason is that I couldn’t justify playing any longer if the scene has less money in it than Contenders 2019. Even back then there was the grind to OWL which would 100% be monetarily worth it. I will be focusing on school and am excited for my future. Never say never to coming back if changes are made but I must focus on my real future now. I’ve had so many amazing memories over the years from grinding open to contenders to my 4 years in OWL. GGs ty everyone for letting me living this part of my life, ty path to pro, ty all my teammates and coaches, ty OWL and ty Overwatch (the first one) 🤭

Did not expect esports in 2024 to make me grieve like it has, but the hits keep coming. Gave myself a few days to process emotions, it’s time to get up and get loud. I’m stepping down from the Esports Award Panel. I was approached to work Gamers8 last year as well as EWC this year, both of which I’ve turned down and will continue to do so. It is impossible to write a perfect statement so I’m just going to make a list of the truths I deeply feel that lead me to this conclusion. I sincerely love and respect our MENA Rocket League family. I am appalled by the official policies and practicies of the Saudi Government. I am indignant that this government would use my esports world as a way to try and distract from these horrific acts. I am confused and deeply frustrated that the heads of the esports world are so eagerly being complicit in this propaganda. I am enthusiastic for the Middle East to get to experience the joy of esports the way I have, but this direct government involvement irreparably stains the show, turning a wonderful thing into a way to continue to harm. If the US were to use esports as a way to distract from their funding of the Palestinian genocide I would react the same way. I do not fault any colleague for making a decision different than mine, it is an exceedingly complex world and we can easily draw different conclusions. I ask the forgiveness of any MENA fans that feel hurt by this choice. There is much a can’t control, but I do get to choose what things WavePunk advocates for. I cannot be a voice that helps hide the oppression of people I love. Happy Pride
