For the 3rd year in a row, I was honored to organize the Annual Assembly Charity Softball Game! This year, we raised $13,000 to support food pantries across the Capital District, and after an exciting extra-innings finish, Ra’s Rough Riders took home the win! One of the best parts of this event is seeing Republicans and Democrats come together off the Assembly floor to support a meaningful cause and give back to our communities. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make this year’s game another incredible success!

It was great to welcome 4th grade students from George Washington Elementary School to the New York State Capitol! I enjoyed showing them around the historic Assembly Chamber and talking with them about how state government works. There’s nothing better than seeing students learn about history and civics in the classroom and then experience it firsthand in person at the Capitol.

The American Border Story
NYS Assemblyman @Slater4NY is exactly right. Americans should never fear losing a child to illegal alien crime.

Yesterday, I was honored to join communities across the 94th Assembly District to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. We will never forget their service or the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸

This year’s state budget includes important investments in our schools, including a minimum 2% increase in Foundation Aid for every district statewide, expanded Universal Pre-K and a delayed timeline for the zero-emission school bus mandate. Every student deserves access to a quality education, and our schools need resources that reflect the realities facing classrooms today. I’ll continue fighting to ensure Hudson Valley students, families and educators have the support they need to succeed.

Kathy Hochul and the Democrats just passed a radical new law making New York a sanctuary state. Now, state and local law enforcement will be prevented from working with federal officials to remove dangerous illegal immigrants, even if they have been convicted of a felony. This is the definition of insane.

I fought to delay New York’s costly EV school bus mandate by five years. This mandate would have significantly increased property taxes while reliability questions remained. No school district should be forced to implement this proposal.

A productive week in Albany as we began passing key budget bills, including delaying the costly EV school bus mandate, increasing school funding for local districts and expanding UPK for our local districts. We also raised $13,000 for Capital Region food pantries at our annual charity softball game. As Memorial Day approaches, we remember and honor our fallen heroes.

.@NYS_AM defeated @NYSA_Majority 15-14 in their 3rd annual charity softball game, raising $12.6K for @FoodPantriesCD. Watch @EdwardRa19 get his 1st Gatorade shower as minority leader. (Earlier, Republicans traded chants of: “I say ‘Ed!’ You say ‘Ra!’ ED…RA! ED…RA!)

It was great joining the community at the Somers Lions Carnival this week and watching some of my partners in government in the dunk tank! Events like this are what make our local communities so special—neighbors coming together, supporting local organizations and enjoying time with family and friends. Thank you to the Somers Lions Club and all of the volunteers who work so hard each year to make this event possible.

This National Military Appreciation Month, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice and dedication. As the Grandson of a veteran and someone proud to represent many military families here in the Hudson Valley, I’m grateful for all those who have worn the uniform and the families who serve alongside them. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Our nation is stronger because of you.

I was proud to co-sponsor and vote to pass legislation expanding emergency shelter access for victims of domestic violence. Too many survivors—especially single adults fleeing unsafe situations—struggle to find available shelter. This bill helps increase capacity by ensuring shelters are fully reimbursed when housing a single individual in a room intended for double occupancy. No victim should be turned away from safety when they need it most.

New Yorkers are being crushed by rising costs, and Albany’s broken budget process isn’t helping. Families across the Hudson Valley are struggling with higher utility bills, expensive groceries and housing costs that feel completely out of reach. Instead of delivering real affordability relief, state leaders are pushing more borrowing, more spending and more taxes behind closed doors. I’ll continue fighting for transparency, fiscal responsibility and commonsense policies that make New York more affordable for hardworking families.
