@SlickAnalysis

Doug Ford needs to go, he is no doubt the most incompetent leader Ontario has ever had.

Humour me; The Federal government had to buy TMX because of all the red tape and delays, then mismanaged its construction costing over $30B. But at least we get over $1.5B in 'dividend' every year. The Federal & Alberta government will have to subsidize over 50% of the Pathways carbon capture project, basically an ownership stake. Who will get the $ from it?

In Vancouver, the PM lays out three conditions that must be met for a pipeline to be built 1) Building of the Pathways CCUS project 2) BC should get "substantial economic and financial benefits" 3) Indigenous consultations, as well economic benefits and potential ownership #cdnpoli

If we lived in a normal world and normal Country, one where we call benefit from exploiting our resources a pipeline would just be built. Who is going to invest in a project that has this level of hoops to jump through in order for it to happen? This has been set up to fail from day one. When the leader of your Country is so visibly uncomfortable talking about something as simple as a pipeline, it’s not happening.

Stuck in my head this morning from Jeff Currie: "Financial markets price expectations, commodity markets price the physical reality of today." Oil deficit now ➡️ oil shortages soon ➡️expectations shift ➡️rerating of back end of the oil curve ➡️significant room to run. Patience.

The path to net zero runs through construction sites, transmission lines, factories, retrofits, and investment decisions. In a world where we already know HOW to decarbonize, climate action is about growth. My latest: 👇 f.mtr.cool/wrbortnzxt

This is exactly how you deal with the “lack of diversity” claim. You need to mock the absurdity of it. Push back. Do not give the woke an inch. This should have been how Christopher Nolan dealt with it. Instead he followed the woke guidelines and desecrated a masterpiece.

@C_3C_3 “Desecrated a masterpiece” and all that happened is a Black woman is shown on screen for one minute. It’s insane how absurdly racist conservatives are now. Should just start calling yourselves confederates.

Has Canada long neglected defence? 100% true. But it just reached 2% of GDP, with more to come. Strong alliances have always been a key US advantage relative to the USSR and now China; Trump is squandering what has long been a major source of US power.
Under Secretary of War Elbridge Colby@USWPColby

A strong Canada that prioritizes hard power over rhetoric benefits us all. Unfortunately, Canada has failed to make credible progress on its defense commitments. DoW is pausing the Permanent Joint Board on Defense to reassess how this forum benefits shared North American defense. 1/3

As I fly out of another trip to Canada, this time Toronto, I just feel compelled to say how shocking it is that so many people have to recognize that Canada is likely already beyond repair on so many issues. They see the train running towards a cliff, and there are no brakes.

Legault and Plamondon are correct. This is why the Quebec government’s passing of Bill 94 — which extends the ban on religious symbols in schools to all staff — and  Bill 9 — which bans religious symbols in daycares, prohibits religious rooms in schools and other public institutions, and limits unauthorized public prayer, including street prayers — are neither racist nor xenophobic, despite what its critics often suggest. Quebec has got this one right. Unfortunately, these laws are now absolutely necessary. The rest of Canada should take note. nationalpost.com/opinion/terry-…

@WilliamLaceyYYC As a climatologist, the carbon math doesn't math. We would be better off stepping up forest management if we are really worried about carbon. But as you point out, none of this matters to the rest of the world.

So, let me get this straight. Producers will pay to “decarbonize” their production stream (really this is just “decarbonizing” the production method, not the barrel itself), and to the extent that they do that versus a benchmark, they generate a “carbon credit”, which has a value that is to be enforced by government. They then will take that CO2 and inject it into a pipeline, on which they will pay tolls, and inject that CO2 into a reservoir underground. And somehow this is meant to cost a de minimus amount to producers? When you deploy tens of billions of capital, the cost isn’t going to be small, but the math behind it may make it appear as such. One way or another people will be paying for this, while the rest of the world rides on unfettered.
