Taxing income is dumb. It’s nothing but a punishment on people for being productive. If you disagree, you are wrong and you are either mentally retarded or are a Big Government cuck who moans “Govern me harder, daddy.” Taxation should be on consumption, not production. Period. And, contrary to left-wing retards’ claims, sales taxes are not regressive if essential goods (e.g., fresh produce, meat, basic clothing, non-luxury vehicles) are exempt from it. It would only affect people who have a lot of disposable income and tend to buy shit they don’t need. Also, sales taxes do not need to be able to compensate for the revenue from the income tax. The federal government can simply be reduced in size by 75% and most of the “services” it provides can be cut too. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are not things that government should be involved in, much less be used as a bargain chip. The federal government’s job is to make laws, enforce them, and provide national defense against enemies foreign and domestic. That’s about it. The founding fathers never intended for the federal government to hold your hand, bankroll your retirement, or be a permanent jobs program for millions of unskilled basket-weavers. It has become too bloated, too wasteful, and too inefficient. Everything else can be left up to state and local county and/or city governments. And, I suspect that in most states, state + local sales taxes could generate enough revenue to fund the police, the fire departments, maintain roads, and public schools. As I said previously, if sales taxes cannot generate enough revenue to meet budget demand, then the budget is too bloated and audits are needed. There ought to be significant spending cuts before demands for more money are made with tax increases. I am right and this is final.
