Donald Trump is obsessed with preventing serious investigation into the corruption and possible criminal conduct of himself, his cronies, and his family. A Democratic victory in the midterms would restore congressional subpoena power and threaten the impunity on which his administration depends. He therefore has both the motive and the demonstrated willingness to undermine the election. He may not be able to steal the midterms outright, but he will almost certainly attempt to discredit any result that deprives him of control of Congress.

Last night, President Trump was back to tweeting about me. This time it wasn't about his efforts to criminally indict me, but my work to stop his Administration from curbing our right to vote by mail. He is obsessed with pushing misinformation about America's elections because he fears he's going to lose in November. It's all part of a well-worn authoritarian playbook and the intimidation is the point. But in our 250th year, I can't think of anything more important than standing up for our democracy and our right to vote.

The Save America Act won't pass. Not because it's bad, but because 99% of Congress couldn't care less what their constituents want. Their only concern is staying in office. Many of whom got into office the same way Biden won in 2020.
