Major life update: I'm excited to share that I've joined @Google to lead the Google Cloud for Games business and Global GTM!
Leaving Xbox & Microsoft after 12 years wasn't easy, but after one week at Google, I'm blown away by two things:
1/ The Energy & People
The Google Cloud for Games team is filled with passionate and hard-working fans of games (which makes all the difference). The focus on customers and the "start-up" energy is contagious
2/ The Tech
The Google Cloud infrastructure and the things I've seen with Gemini/AI for game development and features have left me speechless. Google genuinely has an opportunity to help evolve the games industry and solve some of its most complex challenges, which gets me all types of excited 🤠
Week 1 with the team was intense, but a blast! I'm excited to get to work.

After 12 life-changing years, I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave @Microsoft / @Xbox for a new, big and scary but amazing opportunity (will share soon!) Thanks to the OG Xbox, I’ve been the world’s biggest fan of Microsoft since childhood. Even though it felt like a moonshot, it was my dream to one day be a Microsoftee and get to work for the green X. And thanks to some amazing leaders, I can proudly tell teenage Jon that dreams do come true 🥲 I joined MSFT in college as an entry level retail associate at my local Microsoft Store, and am so grateful for everyone who took a risk on me in my 7 roles since. From helping ship two Gears games and launching @GearsEsports, to building the worldwide @MicrosoftStore Gaming & Esports program with a team of 85 amazing community managers, to launching MSFT’s first-ever Azure for Gaming sales vertical, and ultimately working in Matt Booty’s Chief of Staff office - it has been one heck of a journey I have to give a massive thank you to @JackFellingX who advocated hard for my first role in Gears / Xbox and was an amazing early in career manager (and now a very close friend). And @BondSarah_Bond who has been an unbelievable mentor and taught me so much about how to lead with heart and genuine care for others - all your time, kindness, and occasional Teams IM’s or LinkedIn comments have meant more than you know! I never in my life thought I’d leave Xbox or Microsoft (anyone who knows me knows how much I love the company) - but here’s to pushing yourself to try something new! Thank you MSFT/Xbox for an amazing 12 years, and to the hundreds of remarkable people who made me leap out of bed every morning excited to go to work. I’ll forever be a fan and advocate!
