Awesome morning plane spotting with my son at HNL today. We got lucky and caught Omega Air Refueling’s N974VV departing Honolulu — aviation databases list it as the last active DC-10-40 flying anywhere in the world. An increasingly rare sight and a pretty special catch for both of us. ✈️📸

I did like their 100:1 two stroke oil when I was in high school. At the time they were the only ones I knew of that made it and it worked great with the evinrude on a Jon boat I putted around in during the boating off season. However I agree their two stroke oil is nothing special anymore and it’s always the worst people selling. I have no experiance with their other lubricants.

The "Kee Bird" fire May 21 1995: a former USAF B-29 [45-21768 – “Kee Bird”] is destroyed by a fire in Greenland, no victims. Plane had been abandoned since 1947 after a non-fatal accident. A team of aircraft restorers attempted to repair and fly it out of the location, but a fire broke out while it was still on the ground. The Restoration team´s efforts were the subject of a PBS Nova documentary, entitled “Frozen in Time”, and hence this footage exists, as they were filming what would be the aircraft´s engine startup. The fire was not the worst setback on this restoration: one of the project team´s engineers, Richard Allen 'Rick' Kriege, perished from illness during the restoration process. It was later determined that the conflagration began in the aircraft´s APU – Auxiliary Power Unit

@mwfoutch1 yes! Then the first storm, due to all the surface area and thin tubing it turns into a mangled mess and you get to take it down. The best part is playing Godzilla and while bending and breaking all the tubes to fit into your recycling bin.

Dear @Hertz, when i got read-ended while at a stop in your car, called your roadside number and got a "please call during business hours" message, i laughed. When I went to your location to return the car and provide insurance info of the person who hit me, and was told "do not worry we'll take care of it", i was relieved. But when weeks later you contacted me demanding i pay cash for the repair and told me hat in fact you "never take care of it" and you have no idea who told me, andit was on me to "handle it", I was furious. Luckily (with permission) I recorded your employee telling me at great length that you will in fact take care of it and after submitting this report at the location, there was no further action required of me. So, what now? Is this the sort of business you run? Lying to customers and attempting to gaslight them? Seriously?

At 29 I got laid off from my job, had to quickly sell my house, left my first wife, and floated dead end jobs for a couple of years. At 30, broke as a joke I started doing P90x that I pirated from Pirate Bay, and running with the intention of joining the Army. At 32, I joined the Army, at the time they would not take prior service back for active duty, so I was forced to go reserve. I was mad about it, but a buddy was working at the cable company and helped me land a job there after I completed basic training. At 32, fresh out of basic I went to my new hire class at the cable company. The first person I met there was my wife. I was living with a buddy at the time in his house. She was in a bad situation and needed out. At less than 4 weeks of 'dating' she asked if she could move in with me. I said yes. From there we got a crappy apartment, and then a crappy townhouse rental. Then we sort of went bust while she was in nursing school and asked a family member to rent us a house he had. We lived there for a few years, and that's where the story of the break in (if you know it) happened. We then put in an offer on a house, our offer didn't really stand a chance, but I wrote a letter to the owner and explained my situation. They accepted my offer. 18 months later we started building the home we're in now. It's beautiful, with a beautiful pool and back yard. We take multiple vacations per year, and want for nothing. Further, my marriage is the bar by which a lot of my friends measure their relationships. I genuinely do not know anyone with a healthier marriage than us. So yes, you can start all over again. You won't be the same person, but you can start over again.

NTSB doesn't release cockpit voice recorders from crashes, except in this case they've released an image of a spectrogram. I'm not sure that's a good idea since you can probably reconstruct a lot of audio from the megabytes of data encoded in this image.
