For me, the argument to potentially move Lindholm to the wing is more about his lack of pace and inability to drive play through the middle of the ice. I could see a line where Hagens plays in the middle but Lindholm still takes faceoffs (an area where Hagens struggles).

Elias Lindholm was still one of the best faceoff guys in the NHL last season despite the back injury. It's one area where he still brings clear positive value. The Bruins need and want him to take a lot of them whether he's listed as a center or a wing.

@WillysTeam @ihockeyNHL Poitras didn't start on the wing he took over 100 face offs in 30 games in both the seasons he's played. Spooner didn't switch to wing until later in his career and Soderberg was a while ago I will give you that. Not to mention Johnny beecher, Sean kuraly. I can keep going.

@SlurpoGG @ihockeyNHL Of course he was, but that makes NO difference to Sturm. The Bruins don't believe in having young forwards come right into playing Center, they almost always start them off on the wing. Sturm has said he will play wing.

If your owner gave you the green light to match, and it was your intention from day 1, what is the actual value gained by dragging this out to the 11th hour? I’m perplexed by Verbeek’s approach. I would think (and maybe I’m wrong) that Leo Carlsson is not too thrilled on how this process is being handled. Carlsson signing an offer sheet with the intent of him (leaving) for another organization is pretty significant. Is dragging this out some sort of “punishment” or psychological game by Verbeek?
