Over the last year I’ve gone through the 5 stages of grief. 1. Denial - “AI writes slop.” 2. Anger - “AI is trained on stolen data. I worked 20 years for these skills.” 3. Bargaining - “If I ignore it, maybe it will pass.” 4. Depression - “I don’t feel like working.” 5. Acceptance - “AI makes me quicker, more creative, and more capable. It automates the drudgery so I can focus on key decisions instead of syntax.” Relieved to be at step 5.

It's crazy that we live in a time where AI can help build any app you want... ... but to deploy it live there's still only like 3 choices Heroku, DO, or roll your own infra.

What do engineers hate the most? 1. Writing detailed PRDs. 2. Managing/fixing other people’s code. AI might be more efficient. It also steals the joy and leaves behind the work we never liked. Cross-apply to designers, writers, and more.

the thing i keep in mind is how crazy the crypto era was and how coinbase was the biggest winner and they did so by being normal while everyone else had blockchain psychosis or obtuse skepticism it's the same thing again

Is there an app that gives Claude Code a better UI? I am using it in terminal in Cursor's sidebar but it's kind of hard to read and interact with.

Any serious software engineer with experience knows that coding is a very small part of the job And any dev not influenced by hype knows that AI can only automate *most* of coding well, but not so much the rest

Dates remain an amusing challenge in software. Got a complaint from a customer that they bought a subscription at 6pm their time on the 31st Jan… but got a receipt with the date as 1 Feb. This is wrong - and they are right! But from the server’s POV, the date is right!

i keep trying 5.2 codex for planning and i don't understand how y'all do it. for me opus does way more thinking and explaining and planning on it's own in a very helpful and needed way.

LLMs are good junior engineers but bad at architecture, dist. systems, non-local reasoning, and correctness guarantees. If you hire a Principal Eng to simplify your stack and help junior engineers move faster they often build a database abstraction that looks a lot like Convex.
