Most DeFi founders think their narrative is fine. It's not. They've just been inside it too long to see the breaks. Here are 5 signs your narrative is broken and what each one is quietly costing you

there used to be a clear differentiator in the fufu market. soft fufu = made by yoruba hard fufu = my by igbo igbos particularly enjoy their fufu as a weapon. so what changed? yorubas are now making their fufu like it’s a frag grenade. what happened? was it the economy? 😒

the inconsistency in the takes of kols in this space needs to be studied after a successful paid partnership, kols be like: 'hey newbies, quit school or your 9-5 job and lock in on ct' after newbies finally lock in on ct, they'll be like, "go get a job and stop bothering my life." i can't wait to be a successful kol just like wale

Getting a job is actually not bad advice. I know most people don't want to hear it, but you're probably better off getting a job than still spending time and money in the memecoin trenches, glazing randoms for WL spots, or doing $20 USD per post InfoFi campaigns. Get a job. Do crypto on the side. Once you gain momentum, go full-time. Don't quit crypto, there are still tons of opportunities to change your life. But it can take time

this was the actual onboarding flow for this product from wallchain: step 1 - ask for your minimum price per post step 2 - ask if you accept package deals step 3 - ask what reduction you'd accept for the 'right' project step 4 - hit you with a number which completely lowballs everything you just said wallchain is so set on providing a rate that is lower than agencies, that they have a) ignored creators' own answers and are seemingly offering them around 5-10X below their normal rates b) thus ensured that no one with motion or in a valuable niche will take part the creators using this will therefore not deliver any form of actual ROI for clients they've basically filtered for anti-motion

Wallchain is running three new campaigns > Prophet > Quant AI > Guardis I have never heard of any of these companies, but I 'fit' all of them and can write about them for $124 / post. Which, I won't. Your 'AI automated Targeted Creator Campaigns' are washed, just like Kaito. I understand you gotta answer to investors, but it’s time to wrap it up.

THE PIPE CAME OFF THE LINE HOT. I’d been on shift since morning. Sunday. The kind of tired that doesn’t feel like tiredness anymore. It just feels like the floor. I worked every Sunday that month. Overtime. Because $17 an hour doesn’t cover anything when you’re doing the math on what you need versus what you have. At the end of the month, HR called the whole shift in. A sub-group had snuck out mid-Sunday to a party. Left the work unfinished. The entire shift’s overtime was gone. Every Sunday. Every hour. Every pipe. I didn’t go to the party. Didn’t know about it. Didn’t matter. I stood there at 20 years old watching a month of Sundays disappear because someone else made a decision I had no part in. THAT WAS THE DAY I STOPPED TRUSTING SYSTEMS I DIDN’T CONTROL. I think about that Sunday every time I work alone now. No shift. No sub-group. Just me and whatever I produced. Nothing in between. THAT’S THE ONLY ARRANGEMENT WHERE I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I’M RESPONSIBLE FOR. DMs open. Tell me what you’re building.

Most design agency founders treat content like it’s just a creative task. But in reality, it’s an operational one. I had a conversation with a design founder recently, and he said: “For me, X is currently more about self-discipline for daily posting than actual work or business.” That mindset is the problem. Content is no longer just a side activity or something you do when inspiration comes. It’s one of the easiest ways to sell to your target audience, build trust at scale, and position your brand consistently online. The founders winning today treat content like part of the business operation itself. Here’s a simple system you can follow to make content easier and more sustainable:
David Bassey 🦄@david_bassey_

Content easily scales your design business more than anything else Yes, you're a designer. Yes, visuals are your greatest strength. But visuals are no longer enough. Everyone has access to good tools now, including the freelancer who started designing last year. So what actually distinguishes you? Positioning. Experience. Perception. And content is one of the easiest ways to build and communicate all three. How? - Educational content: The best sales often doesn't feel salesy at all. People naturally resist being sold to. Teach something about your workflow, design thinking & pain points, etc. The more you teach, the more people assume you are knowledgeable, and the more you seem like a solution. - Authority content: This kind of content builds trust and credibility. Share your business journey, client work, systems, process, team operations, case studies, wins, and lessons from experience - Personality content: People connect with people, not portfolios alone. Your experiences, beliefs, struggles, journey, and communication style make your brand memorable beyond the visuals. As an extra: - Subjective/ contrarian takes: From my experience with clients, many are afraid of being called out cos of their philosophies. So they rather be like the bandwagon. Your independent thinking is an edge for you when sharpened well. Do it well and you attract people who align with your perspective. Design agency founders... A design business today is no longer built on good design alone. Design gets people interested. Content makes them trust you, remember you, and eventually buy from you.
