@ExpectingValue I suspect Lewis probably has a better grip over how thin the market has become and which sellers are driving prices (erroneously) and in which names than he does in other geographies

@ExpectingValue It's the last day of the tax year on Thursday so you can expect some extra pain for anything with lots of pa punters in looking to crystallise losses. There is probably an interesting systematic screen that could be done looking to profit from this anomaly

UK small caps feel totally liquidity driven at the moment (always was, yadda yadda). Cannot overstate how thin a market it is with how much capital has flowed out. Very little tail of trading wagging the dog, helped by a few players with big outflows (yes, I'm getting spanked)

Before the Iran war, it was 8p a litre difference between unleaded and diesel. Now it's 26p at my local Sainsbury's in Edinburgh. But there's no profiteering going on 🤔 Can someone explain how this works?

🚨NEW: In the middle of an energy supply crisis, Ed Miliband has just stalled the Jackdaw North Sea gas field project AGAIN. Jackdaw could be up and running in time for winter, producing enough gas to heat 1.6 million British homes. However, Ed’s priority is whether it fits into Net Zero and our international climate treaties. Never mind that we would be using higher emission imports of foreign gas if we don’t use Jackdaw. Imports don’t count in our emissions targets, so it’s a sneaky get around for Ed which will make us colder, poorer and less secure. Bad for the environment and for our economy.

Bring back 2010 We getting in Desire. Rockhopper and Fastnet brah 3.2 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of wet gas initially in place, with an unrisked best estimate of around 462 million barrels of recoverable condensate and LPG Brev

1/ The affordability crisis is the number one issue families are facing. That’s why we’re doubling down on our mission for clean power. To give families energy security and lower bills for good. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week👇

EXCLUSIVE from @oliver_wright Diesel supply shortages will begin to hit Britain from mid-April as stock bought before the Iran war runs out, ministers have been warned Senior industry figures have alerted the government to a looming fall in imports of the fuel and urged them to start considering contingency plans in place to reduce demand One source said that while the UK would not “run out” of diesel, supplies could drop by more than 10 per cent by the middle of next month The UK consumes roughly 23 million tonnes of diesel per year, of which about 5 million tonnes is imported from refineries in the Netherlands and Belgium Some of this fuel originates from the Middle East, which has been affected by the Iranian blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The UK also imports about 7% of its diesel directly from the Middle East Four separate industry sources told The Times that there were concerns over the medium-term supply of the fuel, warning that motorists could see some disruption at the pumps Some smaller forecourts are already finding it harder to access diesel suppliers as terminals — which store and handle the fuel — are prioritising clients with set contracts thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar….

@iAmJoshHunt Good in a sense that it would accelerate IMF intervention which would be a good excuse to cut back on things that have become too politically difficult to cut

What really worries me is the potential for gilt yields to go into a parabolic advance. The destruction that would leave in its path is a terrifying thought.

The Kistos OMAN deal is starting to look crazy with the huge premiums OMAN oil trades at. The deal is backward date to 1 Jan 2025. So when it goes through we hand Mitsui $148M and get an already size able amount of cash back (2025+start of 2026 cash flow). And at current price that asset could produce north of that purchases prices in FCF a year.

@BenGrahamUK One of the downsides to our 5 year democratic cycle is that if any projects in the national interest take so long to complete that they fall into the next parliament then why would the incumbent bother - just to help the next guy? Energy should be independent of govt like the BOE

@DeadEyeP_ @faisalislam A function of the almost continuous sell down of UK equities by UK pension funds over the last decade - this depresses the valuations of listed companies and makes them easy pickings for takeovers. The powers that be don't seem to understand or care about this.
