@therealmissjo The @metoffice are as bad as the bbc.
Stop the propaganda and just give us the real stuff you bellends.
English

@therealmissjo Used to only use red for turkey 🤣now we get a bit of sun and it’s deep red to make us think it’s hotter than it is
English

These people are so tiresome.
Anomaly maps show the temperature difference from average, as per the very obvious scale on the graphic.
Red = warmer than average
Blue = colder than average
This was the graphic back in June when temperatures were below average.

Miss Jo@therealmissjo
Welcome to the British Met Office. Red = danger = 21 degree temperatures. That sounds rather good to the rest of us, but not to them…they need to push some fear.
English

@EggMania2 @goose120541 We’ve had temperature contour maps for decades.
Unfortunately people like Tom are just a bit dense and think everything is out to get them. Sad really.

English

@goose120541 @Met4CastUK Sixty years ago there was no twitter for you to get hysterical on
English

@aftertheflood_ If anything they’re worse. Flat earthers are dumb but harmless but the type of misinformation accounts like this spread can cause genuine harm.
English

@goose120541 What does that have to do with anything said in this thread?
English

@Met4CastUK The highest UK temperature recorded in March is 25.6°C, reached at Mepal in Cambridgeshire on 29 March 1968.
I'm willing to bet there was zero hysteria way back in 1968. You also have to ask in a warming world, why hasn't this record been broken in nearly SIXTY YEARS!
English

@Official_WXUK And today it could be 21°C.
Amazing the difference a short 8 years makes.
English

@goose120541 The 9°C below average blue is just as “dramatic” as the 9°C above average red.
The idea isn’t to be “dramatic” but to highlight departure from average.
English

@Met4CastUK The blues are never as dramatic though as the reds? Today for example is a pleasantly warm early spring day, nothing out of the ordinary, way back in 1991 during the first gulf war I recall a similar warm spell in early march, that's 30 years ago!!
English

@therealmissjo Red = hot
Blue = cold
It has nothing whatsoever to do with “danger”.
English

@Met4CastUK Irrelevant. You know that red = danger and it is a manipulation of people’s perceptions.
English

@Tom32156Phil @metoffice For the same reason below average temperatures are shown in blue.
English

@Met4CastUK @metoffice So you still haven't explained why you show a warm mid March temp in SCARLET.
English

@Tom32156Phil @metoffice So you don't know what an anomaly map is, then?
English

@Met4CastUK @metoffice I know that 21c in March doesn't need to be coloured scarlet.
Do you know what scaremongering is ?
English

@Tom32156Phil @metoffice Do you k ow what an anomaly map is?
English

@metoffice WTF are you showing 21c as scarlet for ???
Get a grip.
English

@DanGriffin0386 @metoffice Do you also have an issue with the blues for below average?
English

@metoffice Dark red really? Talk about scare mongering the climate con
English

@ChrisMumfo @metoffice Why don’t you try looking at the scale and figuring it out?
English

@Met4CastUK @MattyladKRO @metoffice So do we have white and blue when it's a few degrees below expected in July?
English
