The neurodegenerative condition chronic traumatic encephalopathy appears to be driven by damage to the blood-brain barrier due to repetitive head injuries, like those that occur in boxing. One of the biggest supplement myths: “If you don’t feel it, it’s not working.” Some of the most evidence-based supplements produce zero immediate feeling. Creatine. Omega-3. Vitamin D Physiology changes quietly. Performance shows up later. #SportsScience #AthletePerformance

#WATCH | Indian Open 2025 | Delhi: After his loss in the round-1 match today, Indian Badminton player Lakshya Sen says, "I couldn't really play my game. Overall, the movements were a bit slow today and not getting under the shuttle to connect with but credit to him, he (Chun-Yi Lin) played a really good game...I was prepared for a really good match but today was the day I couldn't find my grip on the court..."

Squats = brainpower! 🏋️♂️🧠 A 2023 study in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that one minute of half-squats every 20 minutes preserved cerebral blood flow. Squatting also improved executive function and boosted self-reported concentration while reducing mental fatigue. Action plan: Break up sitting with 10 squats every 20 minutes. Then lightly stretch. Source: Horiuchi, Masahiro, Alice Pomeroy, Yoko Horiuchi, Keeron Stone, and Lee Stoner. “Effects of Intermittent Exercise during Prolonged Sitting on Executive Function, Cerebrovascular, and Psychological Response: A Randomized Crossover Trial.” Journal of Applied Physiology 135, no. 6 (December 1, 2023): 1421–1430 #SquatSmart #BrainGains

During follow-up, more than 11,000 participants developed dementia. After adjusting for lifestyle and health factors, those with higher intake of caffeinated coffee had an 18% lower risk compared with low or non-drinkers, with the strongest benefit seen at two to three cups a day. Tea showed a similar association at one to two cups daily, while decaffeinated coffee showed no benefit. #dementia #CoffeeLover #CoffeeIntake @timesofindia @aiims_newdelhi

Longevity is determined by genetics + how long you can avoid disease. The majority of disease avoidance is dependent on metabolic health. Metabolic health = four controlled vectors: fuel selection, oxidative capacity under load, oxygen delivery, byproduct clearance 👇

Your chronological age can’t always tell you the state of your health, which is why biological clocks have been developed to show our risk of developing diseases or dying – but they’re not all they are cracked up to be, says columnist Graham Lawton #Echobox=1770290619" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">newscientist.com/article/251298…
