Today, @NITAUganda1 in collaboration with @Smartideasug convened a high-level stakeholder engagement at the @innovationhub that brought together key players from government, the private sector, development partners, civil society, academia, and organisations representing persons with disabilities (PWDs). The session served as a powerful platform for open dialogue, rich experience sharing, and the co-creation of practical, sustainable solutions aimed at fostering a more inclusive digital ecosystem in Uganda. Building on the recent three-month ICT skills training programme that benefited 38 persons with disabilities under the UDAP-GovNet project, today’s engagement focused on identifying gaps, exploring innovative approaches, and strengthening multi-stakeholder coordination to ensure equitable access to digital opportunities for all. The ICT skilling program for people with learning disabilities and persons with visual impairment, organised by @NITAUganda1 under the UDAP-GovNet project, in partnership with the @MoICT_Ug and Smart Ideas culminated in a wholesome graduation ceremony which saw each participant proudly receive a Certificate of Completion. Witnessing their determination over the past few weeks and achievement was truly inspiring, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s journey toward digital inclusion and demonstrating that with the right support and opportunities, persons with disabilities can fully participate in and benefit from the digital economy.
