Because the number on Cameron Norrie continues to shock me! Feels like this number is leaning a little too heavily into Vallejo’s upside while overlooking how proven Norrie has been in this exact situation. A lot of the conversation around this match has focused on Adolfo Daniel Vallejo playing his first-ever best-of-five match — and fair enough, that matters. But I think people are overlooking just how dependable Cameron Norrie has been in these spots for years. Since his first-round loss to Sebastian Korda at the 2022 Australian Open, Norrie is 11-1 in Round 1 Slam matches against lower-ranked opponents (and 13-2 overall in R1). That’s not a random trend either. It speaks to the kind of player he is: experienced, disciplined, physically reliable, and extremely difficult to wear down over five sets. Norrie might not have the flashiest game on tour, but he’s been one of the ATP’s steadiest professionals for a long time. He knows how to manage nerves, pace himself through long matches, and force less experienced opponents into uncomfortable physical and mental battles. Over best-of-five, those qualities matter even more. I know he's recently also been pretty open about the injury issues he’s dealt with this season. Still, if Norrie says he’s healthy enough to play, I’m inclined to trust it. He’s long been one of the tougher guys on tour when it comes to grinding through difficult conditions and physical matches. Vallejo is talented. The Madrid run and recent Challenger-level results were impressive and deservedly got people’s attention. But there’s still a huge difference between putting together a few strong Challenger weeks and beating an established ATP veteran over best-of-five in your first ever Slam.

Popcorn tennis alert for day 2 of @rolandgarros Buse vs. Rublev Manny likes the matchup, price, and Buse insane form, so he is take Buse ML at +210. Brad thinks Buse may be exhausted from the Hamburg run (7 matches in eight days) and thinks Rubkev takes it. Most likely outcome therefore is probably a Buse retirement… Do we like the big hitting youngster or the big hitting veteran???

@maksim_popovski I like Prizmic at 2.4. I do not think they’re 50/50 in terms of level or potential though.

@SmoothManSports When you look at their clay seasons, confidence and fitness it makes sense. Also fonseca was really underwhelming yesterday
