The ultimate level of Manual Automation. 🤖👟 Why rely on a Group Policy Object when you can become a Group Policy Organism? Since the system is broken, we’ve officially upgraded from scripts to "Sneaker-net" deployment. Our current tech stack includes: Active Directory: Walking up to people and asking if they’ve restarted. Registry Keys: Changing settings by hand because the central server is essentially a brick. Scheduled Tasks: Setting an alarm on our phones to go do the thing manually. It’s basically Edge Computing, but the "Edge" is just the edge of our desks as we stand up to fix another workstation. #HumanGPO #SysAdmin #ManualLabor #ITProblems #SneakerNet

Is anyone able to use the App Center or run snap install today? I'm still getting connection errors. Canonical's infra seems to be struggling big time with that DDoS attack. 📉 Just did a fresh install and I'm stuck without any of my essential tools! 😫 Moving to Flatpak for now to get things done. 🐧🔧 #Ubuntu #Linux #Canonical #DDoS #OpenSource #SysAdmin #LinuxCommunity

Just logged into my workstation, tried to install some software... and nothing. 😑 Turns out Canonical and Ubuntu are facing a "sustained" attack right now. ⚠️ Quick breakdown: Down: Snap, Login, Launchpad, Livepatch, and official sites. OK: The OS is safe and APT repos (mirrors) are still working. Don't tweak your config if things are failing—it’s on their end! 🛠️ #Ubuntu #Linux #Canonical

The Million-Euro Mirage vs. The Reality of French IT To my fellow English-speaking colleagues and the global tech community: I’m stepping in to discuss a situation in France that deeply disturbs me, following the recent statement by the French Prime Minister regarding the national "cyber-defense" shock plan, issued right after the massive ANTS data breach. The announcement of millions of euros to bolster national cyber-resilience sounds masterful on paper. But it masks a systemic truth: IT infrastructure cannot be fixed with a checkbook. Public discourse is currently pointing fingers at a 15-year-old hacker to distract from the core issues. What about the vulnerability itself? Were there any serious audits? Did anyone listen to the technical staff who have been sounding the alarm for years about the disastrous state of our critical systems? The reality of French IT today is a ticking time bomb: Abysmal Technical Debt: We are stacking shiny new layers on crumbling foundations. Injecting millions won’t erase decades of "quick fixes" and patchwork. Money cannot buy the time required to sanitize decaying legacy systems. The Cult of Appearance: Management wants "magic" solutions. The moment a technician mentions analysis, documentation, or methodology, the response is: "That’s not real work; we don’t have time for that." IT is an Organization, Not Just a Tool: It is primarily about decision-making. If the managerial culture continues to view reflection and structural integrity as a waste of time, we will continue to build castles on quicksand. The bottom line is simple: A released budget is not a solved problem. As long as the "invisible work" of frontline alerts and rigorous analysis is held in contempt, the millions of 2026 will only serve to fund the cyber-catastrophes of 2027. 🍿 #CyberSecurity #Infosec #TechnicalDebt #RealWork #France #CyberDefense #ANTS #DataBreach

The "Cloud" is just someone else's computer, but this blog is officially MY problem now. 🚒 I spent more time on configuration than actually writing content, but here we are. It's ugly, it's handcrafted, and it runs on a machine that hates me: a true Sysadmin masterpiece. 🛠️ First article for those who enjoy suffering: The French Sysadmin’s Guide to Digital Despair. 🥖🔥 Click here before I accidentally rm -rf /: it-firefighting.org/the-french-sys… #ITFirefighter #SelfHosted #SysadminLife #UglyButFunctional

The lifecycle of a "Paper-Thin" Wannabe Tech Influencer: Hashnode: "Too limited for my creative genius." Ghost: "The future of blogging! Pure elegance." Reality: Checks the Ghost subscription price... The Verdict: Ends up back on WordPress, configuring cache plugins and crying because PHP gives me hives. 😭 I wanted to be an author; I became a 500-error repairman. Send help. 🤡 #TechLife #ReluctantWebmaster #ArtistLife

Alright guys, reality check: I’m officially too broke for the Ghost Pro/Starter plan, so I’m crawling back to WordPress. 💀 It’s gonna be a struggle because I’m terrible at this, but I’ll be back with real articles soon. Posting here for now because it’s way easier. 🤣🤣🤣

Monday, 8:00 AM: The bugs are back! Strange, right? 🕵️‍♂️ The absolute silence of the weekend has been replaced by a symphony of non-stop ringing.Ring... Ring... Ring... ☎️ Apparently, the "24/7" business was on airplane mode since Friday night, but now everyone suddenly remembers the hotline number. #SysAdmin #OnCall #SRE #IT #RUN #Hotline

The mystery of Ops life... 🕯️ During the week: "EVERYTHING IS CRITICAL!" 🚨 Every minor bug is a matter of life and death. We're constantly reminded that our sites run 24/7 in high-tech, ultra-secure clean rooms. Then comes the weekend on-call: Absolute silence. 🌌 Suddenly, the servers are zen and the bugs are on vacation. Apparently, "business criticality" only works 9-to-5, Monday through Friday. Either our infrastructure has an incredible sense of professional ethics, or "urgency" is just a social construct that vanishes the moment the boss logs off on Friday night. 🤡 #DevOps #SysAdmin #OpsLife #OnCall #ITHumor

❗️🇫🇷 Following the French government's ban on Windows and its replacement with Linux, French activists are now saying goodbye to Windows 10 and actively encouraging people to embrace freedom and use Linux instead of paying for an upgrade to Windows 11, citing privacy concerns.

SysAdmin: "Our ESXi is hitting 99% capacity. Even with load balancing, the cluster is choking. We need to scale or purge immediately or the whole environment goes dark." Management (interrupting): "Great point. But first, let’s focus on the real priority for the app: are we going with 'Sunset Orange' or 'Coral' for the UI refresh? The stakeholders need a vibe check."
