Canadian sports broadcasting icon Vic Rauter signs off for one last time. After nearly 41 years with TSN, the #WMCC Gold Medal Game was Vic's final broadcast. Thank you, @TSNVicRauter 🥹❤️

@Schnitzy48 Simple rule changes are one thing as there are variations already such as Pass Interference. But larger mainstream changes such as field size and goal post locations should have been made by the collective at a summit for ALL of Canadian football.

@Schnitzy48 Things do change. And maybe they have to. But while the CFL may be the pinnacle of the Canadian game, they are only one of many leagues that play it. I do not like the decisions being taken in a vacuum without regard for the game as a whole. (Continued)

Remember when #CFL end zones were 25-yards deep? Changed in the mid-80’s to accommodate the BC Lions lack of space in their stadium. Things change.

@Schnitzy48 Disagree. Keeping players and coaches in the dark guaranteed an uncontrolled backlash and the CFL fanbase is now more disjointed than ever. This was foreseeable and poorly planned. Regardless of the actual changes this is a bad look for our league when we needed better.

The messaging strategy of this CFL change has been masterful. They were foreboding yesterday on purpose. Scare the shit out of everybody so that the changes they actually present just feel like a relief. Which makes you more open-minded to the new rules. Very smooth. #CFL

@TSNDaveNaylor So the CFL knowingly went against its players and coaches and intentionally created a scenario where there would be angst, backlash, and a need for damage control. That may actually be worse than the rules changes. A successful endeavour requires everyone pulling together.

I understand why players, coaches etc might be upset they weren’t consulted. But as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow the result of that would be status quo. And Stewart Johnston was hired and told status quo is not an option. #CFL
Bob Irving@BobIrvingCJOB

Check out Nathan Rourke’s angry reaction to the CFL changes. He called them garbage, says a lot of the uniqueness of the Cdn game is gone, special teams play is minimized and he questions the analytics that were used. Also upset that coaches & players weren’t consulted.

@TroyWestwood Because the players' and coaches' voices will carry far more weight with the fanbase. The CFL needs them onside and not opposed in the public forum if they want support from the fanbase. Huge mistep by the league to alienate them.

@Schnitzy48 Not at least briefing and ensuring your players and coaches were onboard before going public is a huge mistep and now requires damage control. Regardless of the good or bad of the changes this is not a good look.

@MiltStegallTSN @CFL @PaperPlatesShow But change for change sake is folly. Make changes to fix problems sure. But also consider the full set of ramifications. Growing the Canadian game requires Canadians to play the Canadian game. How will amateur sport be able to eat the costs of the field changes? Not cool.

To those who believe the @CFL need not change or evolve, such a mindset would lead to the demise of our great league. I will stop there. @PaperPlatesShow

@CFL Fail. Creating chaos and expense for amateur football across Canada just for the sake of tweaking away the Canadian game. I don't see any benefits to these changes that outweigh the costs.

The CFL is making a bold move to evolve the game with a set of changes centred upon entertainment and innovation. Commissioner Stewart Johnston announced that changes will be instituted over the next two seasons through a phased approach. The most significant modifications will come in 2027 with goalposts being moved to the back of the end zone and the field being re-sized. In anticipation of these structural changes, beginning in 2026, the rouge will be modified and adjustments will be introduced to ensure more consistent game flow.

Zach Collaros You live by the sword, die by the sword. What makes him great is his fearlessness in making the dangerous throw. The shot to Oliveira was super risky, but it hit, and the #Bombers take full control early in a tough road game. #BonfireFtb

@DarrinBauming He and Bieksa have a nice Forward-Defense chemistry on explaining things. Really enjoying their breakdowns with each perspective. Add in Hrudey and it's good coverage of all 3 layers.

@DarrinBauming 1st place team has slightly better odds of winning it all and the odds would also favour that the streak of 1st place not winning will come to an end soon. So seems like a perfect intersection of circumstance. LFG!!!

Carney was dismissive, aggressive, condescending to a Globe and Mail reporter today because he didn't like their legitimate. question about China and influence. Anyone else notice that he is nastier to women who ask difficult questions than he is with men? torontosun.com/news/national/…

@marty_morantz Well I had been wondering how you would keep Poilievre in check if elected. Clearly you will just parrot the party rhetoric without question. We need a strong candidate with a strong voice. Not a parrot. Try campaigning instead of mud slinging.

HOLY PLAGIARIZING BATMAN! Mark Carney plagiarized his university PhD thesis. Academic experts who reviewed Carney's work say, “He’s just directly repeating without quotations. That’s what we call plagiarism." He literally stole someone else words and ideas. He’s been lying his way through his entire career including about moving the Brookfield office and helping PM Martin balance the budget. This scandal shows he lacks any integrity. Can't trust Carney. nationalpost.com/news/mark-carn…
