Meet Project K: the new League of Legends trading card game for everyone who loves League’s characters and settings, TCGs, collecting, and connecting with friends across the table.
@Lanxion_@Nive_the_Nerd Not really. Most players aren't going to lie to a Judge. All Judge has to ask is "did you play Let it Go?". They say "Yes" and Judge says "Then it needs to resolve"
@SneakybuffaloGG@Nive_the_Nerd I know how it's supposed to work. I'm saying it will be rewinded at a table with a judge call and they will get a warning. That's the reality of it.
Hey y'all. Lorcana question, a "what would you do" scenario.
You are in the set championships next week. Suggesting a competitive atmosphere above casual but below DLC.
You only have a ward Cogsworth in play and your opponent announces and pays for Let It Go, attempting to target your cogsworth.
Rules as written, the player announced and played the card and must do as much as it can and thus would have to choose one of their own characters, however, they ask to take the play bad. What would you do?
@Lanxion_@Nive_the_Nerd If they declared the card and exerted their ink, then yes, the card was played
If they haven't declared and exerted their ink, then the card wasn't played
@SneakybuffaloGG@Nive_the_Nerd If someone says all in the same breath "let it go on cogs, oh wait never mind" does that count? Also will you be able to convince a judge? They will always walk these things back. Consider also that you're playing a living breathing human being.
@JudgeKris@GooglyGlimmers@Nrausch1@Nive_the_Nerd It is because the game follows a "do as much as you can" policy. And "as much as you can" can be nothing. This has been confirmed numerous times
@TheGrixisGuy@Traverse_Tavern See my hot take above. There was no error because that was not a choice they can make. Its not illegal, it wasn't an option to begin with, so they are still at "choose a Character" and they need to make a valid choice.
@SneakybuffaloGG@Traverse_Tavern Yes, but the question is where exactly the error occurred since rules and policy aren't specific as well as rewind philosophy for Lorcana. For other games, you don't rewind partial actions, so we need more information to know the intent of rules and policy.
@Nive_the_Nerd So here's my take, which is going to be somewhat controversial.
An illegal play was not made. There is no need for a rewind because the player CANT make that choice. It's not an option. So they are still at the "choose a Character step" and must fulfill it.
@TheGrixisGuy@Traverse_Tavern So if someone played Fire the Cannons on a Hercules and said "take 1 damage" and then went "oh wait, I thought that was the one with resist. It's 2 damage"
They'd need to go all the way back to replaying the Cannons?
@MikeMullins1315@Nive_the_Nerd It's not an illegal play. It's an illegal choice. The card has been played legally. There are other legal choices available. They must choose a legal option
@MrZuhmbL@Traverse_Tavern@Nive_the_Nerd The key there is CAN'T be performed. The effect can still be performed. Just not with the choice they made. So they need to make another choice
At the point of the choice, the card is already "Played"
@Traverse_Tavern@Nive_the_Nerd 4.3.3.1 states if any part of playing a card process can’t be performed (for instance choosing a ward character) it becomes an illegal play and the game goes back to right before the card was played.
@Nive_the_Nerd Anytime a judge gets called about this 9 times out of 10 they're walking it back anyways. It's impossible to regulate timing of these things and when someone definitively cast it. Can always grab a judge if you want but winning on a gotcha doesn't sit right with me.
@ChironTheMage@Nive_the_Nerd The card has been played. Choices are made after the card is played. The card MUST resolve, so if there is a legal target and there is no "may", you must choose a legal target. If the only legal target is your own card, well.... you played the card.....
@Nive_the_Nerd Idk how the rules are written that they'd have to target one of their own things given that they illegally tried to target something they can't.
@RavSteveWarner@PavelKolev7 So you don't have the option to Sing the second play, if you so choose for some reason?
If, no, could you explain why this is different from Shifting a Character with JiT or BBB?
What happens if a character is at Pride Lands and has a base of 2 HP and 2 damage tokens on them, then they move to another Pride Lands, do they die in the process of moving?
I would assume so, but only @RavSteveWarner can answer this one...

@dbfw_cardgameEN What are people supposed to do with 20 sleeves?
Top 16 all getting the Serial card is dope. Fix the rest of it please.
No incentive to place higher than 16th.
